The former IC champ may have suffered an injury during a live event Sunday, according to a report from Daily Wrestling News. The extent of the injury is not known at this time. Kevin Owens was wrestling Sami Zayn in Columbia, South Carolina, with Zayn winning via his Blue Thunderbomb. After the match was over, referee Charles Robinson threw up the dooming “X” sign in an effort to signal for assistance from the back. At the time of the report, there were only two others who attended the event that were able to corroborate the story, with only an additional two mentions of the possible injury on social media ... As noted, there is no definitive word on Owens’ status as of this writing, so everything could have been precautionary. Fans will get a clearer picture of his availability on Monday Night RAW, which will be the go-home episode before Sunday’s Extreme Rules.

WWE Superstar Emma has been injured … this according to WWE.com. The company has only released minor details at this point, saying she hurt her back last Sunday during a live event and is currently undergoing testing to “determine the extent of her injuries.” Emma made her return to the main roster shortly before WrestleMania 32 and her tag partner Dana Brooke had just been called up as well to join her NXT cohort. According to WrestlingInc, Emma lost her tag match last Sunday when she and Lana went up against Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch. UPDATE 2:09 PM PST: WWE has now said Emma will require surgery for a ruptured disc. WWE ringside physician Dr. Chris Robinson says, “She came to us in a great deal of pain, which seemed to be increasing. She was then given an M.R.I., which revealed that further action would need to be taken. Unfortunately, the Superstar’s estimated recovery time cannot be determined until after her procedure is complete.”
