What makes Flair 'the man'?
In your opinion, what makes/made "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair so dominant, and why is he still the man today?
Is it his many (many) title wins? ![]() His heel heat? ![]() The awesome feuds? ![]() The longevity of his career? Or maybe the fact that he's still around today? ![]() Or to you, is it something else? I wanted to post this thread because, to me and to many others, Flair is one of the most influential wrestlers of all time and could never be forgetten. ...Or is it his floppy old man boobies? ![]() |

It's two decades plus of being able to put on incredible matches whether the opponent was an extraordinary worker (Steamboat, Savage) a straight up brawler (Rhodes, Funk) or a steaming pile of crap (Luger, Garvin).
It's the fact that Ric Flair wasn't a big, buff guy with a great look but through his ringwork, his charisma, and his mic skills he still made himself one of the biggest names in the history of the business. If there was a Mt. Rushmore of Wrestling, Ric Flair would be on it. PS...it's a predetermined sport. Titles are meaningless unless asa relative measure of who is the most marketable at any given time. |

Flair should of left the ring a long time ago.
His charisma is wrong for this day and age as well. Not many people can understand and old guy who talks erratically and has a lisp. |

The fact that the man is a 16 time World Champ. And the eye pokes, low blows, chop blocks, and the slaps on the cheast. And at the age of 60 something he still became a 2 time wwe World Tag Team Champion along with Batista. And the WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! bottom line is there is no man in the history in the wwe like this man.

HANDS OFF THE MERCHANDISE

The guy is so popular that even C(not so)Bright strutted like Flair when he was accepting his prom king victory. I miss CBright though, and I hope he comes back soon.
Anyways, it is Flair's promo/interview skills that make him so great. It is his ability to make his opponents look good, while carrying a 5 star match. Flair even carried the ball for a dying WCW, and did a tremendous job doing so. During the Monday Night Wars, WCW would put Flair on just before Raw went on the air. What makes Flair great is that when you think his career is buried, it seems as though he doesn't lose any of his popularity (i.e nWo angle). Flair can wrestle better than 75% of the WWE's current roster (guesstimate), and still puts on quality matches, even at his old age. If Evolution was just HHH, Orton, and Bastista, the group would not be the same. Flair just adds so much dynamic to that group, and not only by his presence, but by what he is still able to do best...talk. And lets not forget a particular Raw episode of last year. Flair challenging HHH for the title. The entire show was built around that match, and what happened? Flair cut a terrific promo before the match, and the match itself was nothing short of spectacular (for a stale HHH that had previously buried all of his possible feuds with RVD, Booker T, Kane, etc.) For that one night, wrestling fans were marking out, because they did believe that Flair could possibly win the title from HHH that night. This is all an attributed to Flair, who always seems to make his opponents look good, and there is no one who can do it better. |

^^Mayo^^...Pertaining to the 75%, I was just praising Flair to a great extent, so of course I didn't mean he was actually better than 75% of the current roster.

One of the more intereseting things about Flair was that the Original Nature Boy Buddy Rodger was happy that Flair was the one using the Nature Boy name and gave him permission. Now if a legend like Buddy Rogers respects you then you are the man.

The reasons I like Ric Flair are as follows:
When Evolution do promo's, he always looks like the man, when he just stands their smiling, I don't even look at whoevers talking, I just look at Flair because he acts like the man. He does funny things like the stupid fall over he does once a match when people punch him. I didn't watch WCW but I heard he was the man at getting heel heat there. Him and Bischoff are my two favourite heels. |

Ric Flair is the man because of the great matches that he has put on, his ability to recieve such intense heel heat and of course the legendary catchphrase and the strut. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! |
