I really wish I could pick up a couple of shows on DVD from my childhood

I wish they'd release the first 5 seasons of the Power Rangers, alos I really want to see Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad again, never did get to see the pilot ep of that and finally while not as high on my list as MMPR and SSSS Big Bad Beatle Borgs (both the original and hell why not Metalix as well) wouldn;t be bad to get too.

Power Rangers was the worst show of all time. The same exact thing happened in every single episode. I don't understand why one of the writers didn't step in and be like, "OK WTF, the same thing happens every episode. Let's do something new."

COME ON.

Oh no doubt it was terrible. I don't think it was a great show now by any means, but I'm an incredibly nostalgic person , when I was younger I thought it was great, now I'd watch it just for nostalgic factor.

I'd love to get Spy Game too that was a little later on mind you. But man Linden Ashby's Lorne Cash character was so cool.

Another thing about the Power Rangers is that it had really good background music, music that even before I got the MP3s of them stayed in my head for years after I stopped watching the show.

I hated how in Power Rangers they would get hit and they would do like 394829 spins and fall down. And how their chest would shoot off sparks every time they got hit as well. Grrrr.

Full House rocks. As does Saved by the Bell.

yeah i'm suprised roseanne isn't on dvd yet. i can't really think of anything from childhood that isn't allready released, they've got scooby doo, jetsons, flintstones, and battle of the planets out. maybe the old spiderman series and the old justice league cartoons.

Shows I'd like to see released on DVD... (Either fully or in part, but I perfer full seasons) (Not sure which actually ARE released)

Note that some of these are from before my time, but I love to watch the reruns on Nick at Night and other stations...:

Full House
The Cosby Show
Roseanne
Adventures of Pete and Pete
Garfield and Friends (Just checked and Volume 1 is coming out in July, 24 eps )
The Carol Burnett Show
Courage the Cowerdly Dog
Whoes Line is it Anyway (American version, I hate the UK version)
Mad TV
Are You Afraid of the Dark
Doug (The orignal one, not the ABC/Disney one)
Quantum Leap (Which I hear IS coming out)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Orignal)

That is a shitload, and I'm sure there are more... I just cant think of anymore... (I went through the list a TV Tome to see if I would remember some...)

I think I would get:

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
VR Troopers
Super Human Samurai Cyber Squad (forgot all about this untill you mentioned it)
Beatle Borgs
Salute Your Shorts

Man I used to love that Super Human show. I remember that the Lawrence brother was in it and that they had to pick up instruments before they could go into cyber space.

I don't think they borrowed it, more just blaitantly copied.
Or did they borrow it? Cause there were the scenes where you saw them with their helmets off, or were those shot extra?

-edit- It would explain some of Rita's bad dubbing

Haim Saban basically took a bunch of Japanese shows, bought the rights to distribute them in America, and then chopped them up. This may not have been the case for all of his Sentai programming, but it was the case for the Power Rangers. Note the quality difference between the suits between the original Japanese shots (Action scenes) and the Rangers with their helmets off. They reshot the rest of the series, which was far less than the cost of a whole new version...

He did something similar with one of my favorite Animes, Space Knight Tekkaman Blade.

He bought the rights, then went to work toning it down, chopping out the violence and nudity and making a lot of the fight scenes repetitive. He then redubbed the series, changing some characters (Maggy from Teknoman used to be a man in Tekkaman Blade). He renamed it Teknoman, and renamed the main character Slade in the US to avoid legal repercussions from Marvel...

And it still was 100000X better than half the shit on TV at the time. Too bad he only bought the rights to one season and someone bought Season 2.

I just like the cast and games better on the American version better I guess... I used to love the UK version, but when I saw the US version, I loved that even more and stopped watching the UK version... Some of the British humor came out a little, too, and I didnt like it that much... Still, I like the US version better...

British humour, fair enough, one would assume an American would be more comfortable with American humour and vice versa, but the cast is practically the same bar a couple of exceptions (I don't think Bradley Walsh has ever done the UK version whilst I don't think Tony Slattery or Josie Lawrence ever did the US). Ryan Stiles does both and he's the man anyway, which is all that matters.

Tekkaman Blade isn't available in an English version of any kind (Be it foreign language with subs or a dubbed version) officially.

Although, you can find info on where to get the Liquidanime fansubs and download some real low quality Teknoman videos on tekno-mania.com.

Ryan Stiles does both and he's the man anyway, which is all that matters.
The cast is similar, and the humour is pretty close. the US version seems dumbed down at points, and has better production. That';s about all I can come up with.

I noticed that some of the games in the British version were british-oreinted... And almost every episode, except those filmed in the US for the UK version, had atleast one British person who did British humor... Could be my memory is fuzzy, but I know I didnt like/get some of the British humor...

I don't know why I'd have less trouble than you getting the British oriented material...

Yeah I have two eps on VHS that i've had for years. The one with the little furry creatures that go extinct because people eat them, and the one where Fran meets a T-Rex called Gary or something, and he challanges Earl to a fight to the death...

Damn I miss that show.....Mr Richfield was the man.
