I like when movies look gritty.
I hate movies that look fake and clean.

Like, look at all the "new classics" from the 80's.
I'll use Beverly Hills Cop for an example. They dont prep up the movie and make everything look all clean and organized. It just looks natural. I cant really explain it. It's something that movies nowadays lack. Everything is so neat and flashy. |

It's because everything is digital now so it looks sharper and clearer.

No no... not that.
I'm not talking image quality. Just watch Beverly Hills Cop and look at the camera work. Also, note how the movie makes everythign seem so natural. |

Have you seen Narc? If we are talking about the same thing, I thought that "looked" pretty gritty.

Well, movies hardly reflect real life because the actors and actresses are far more attractive than what you see in the real world. And, well, nowadays most movies are also filmed in Canada, which is, frankly, cleaner than any place in the US.
I agree about Beverly Hill Cop, as the first part of the movie was actually filmed in Detroit. I remember that scene where Axel is driving down a freeway near a row of factories and it felt like home. |

What about movies in black & white , for example Raging Bull, are they any different ?
