Sounds a lot better than Raw. They are really trying to put Becky into position.

Sounds like a much better show than Raw.
Styles winning makes me groan, though. He's amazing and that reaction is not at all a reflection of him but rather the manner in which they book their title programs. They managed to make me completely sick of Styles/Nakamura and Styles/Joe by the end of their programs, and now Styles/Bryan is probably gonna follow along that same path. |

Styles/Nakamura I loved throughout the feud..... Styles/Joe I had had enough from pretty much the first match due to the whole family angle.....

Rey vs DB would have been a good choice for me.

Yeah, Rey would have been a lot more fun at this point.

No desire in the slightest to see Rey in the main events

As champion? No. As an occasional challenger to mix things up and put on a great match? Fuck yes.

Rumble is perfect for that too as it’s not the main event. I mean, the WWE Championship is rarely THE main event, but you know what I mean.

Agreed. Rumble is a great time to do main-events you wouldn't really do otherwise since the big focus is on the Rumble itself.
No one really complained when they did Bob Holly vs Lesnar for the title at a Rumble 'back in the day' bc of that. |

I'm not entirely sure that Styles isn't going to win the belt back. I can see them wanting to use his loss to Bryan and stuff with Vince to "boost him." I know he wants reduced time and all that, but Styles vs. Orton feels more like a WWE Title match than Bryan vs. Michaels does (if those are the matches scheduled). I can kind of see Bryan's run being just a way to get people talking about him again and make people think he can win the belt at any time (kind of like Edge).
My money would be on Bryan retaining, but Styles would actually get something out of winning the belt from Bryan. He'd look like a guy who continually improves and solves his issues, which they might want if they plan to build SmackDown around him. |

I think Bryan retains until WM. No clue who he'll face there.
I don't buy the HBK-DBry rumors. HBK returning and randomly getting a World Title match doesn't really make sense. |

I thought HBK/Styles was the obvious match, but if it is HBK/Bryan, that's why Bryan losing the belt wouldn't shock me. I guess nothing shocks me with the belt anymore. Conventional wisdom says Bryan retains until Mania, but I can just see Styles winning it and Bryan turning into even more of a deranged psychopath on a mission for the planet heading into WrestleMania because they feel whatever he does is going to be "big enough" without a belt involved.

I don't think HBK is wrestling at Mania at all. I honestly don't think he was bullshitting when he says he's done and that he only fought at Crown Jewel because it was the three guys he trusted most.

Also I second that Bryan/Rey at the Rumble would've been grand, or even a longer Bryan/Ali match. It's fine to pull a match like that for the Rumble to save more "star power" for the Rumble itself.
I know that whoever loses between Bryan/Styles can still enter the Rumble and recent history supports people pulling double duty, but I think Styles could've easily been positioned as one of the match favorites. |

Which is hilariously sad to think two of the three most allowed him to land on face. If that's really the last match we get with HBK, well damn, way to shit on what was one of the best retirement matches ever.

Bryan doesn't necessarily have to lose it to Styles at the Rumble considering there are 2 more PPVs between the Rumble and WrestleMania (Elimination Chamber(where there's a pretty good chance of a new champion) & Fastlane)

Forgot how bad SmackDown's piped in cheers and crowd reactions used to be at times. WWE rarely makes it sound genuine.
At least its not as bad as that weird moment on RAW last night where either Cole got dubbed a bit by someone else or a post-production commentary line that sounds different like whenever NXT does it for shows. |

Sonya's finisher is a suplex DDT that she sort of gives to herself?
That looked like it hurts her more than it did Naomi. |
