*Official* Recommend Matches thread.

Yeah basically just use this to recommend matches you think others should see. I`ll start with three I just finished watching on my computer from my collection that is insanely big .

Bret Hart vs Bulldog In Your House 5 1995

Great match, two awesome pildrivers (ahh to be back in the day when piledrivers were allowed *sigh*), some great commentary by McMahon and Lawler, back and forth action, Cornette being well Cornette, a great blade job by Bret in a time where bleeding actually meant something All in all I very enjoyable match not as good as their match in 1992 but very little could be.

**** out of 5

Mr Perfect vs Shawn Micheals Summerslam 1993

Wow, lightning quick action through out this fast paced bout. Fantastic match that was a little short and a dissapointing finish, still a great match between two great wrestlers. Check it out, if not for some of the great reverals and back and forth wrestling.

***1/2 (A little short and ho hum ending)

Bret Hart vs Diesel Survivor Series 1995, No DQ, No count-out match

This is all ring psychology, this is how I'd like to see No DQ matches done, no overuse of weapons or tables, instead we get a great spot with Bret tying Diesel's leg to the ring post, eye rakes, bitting, a plenty, I like this, they incorporate some of the lesser illegal moves to get over that both men want to win that badly. Bret focusing on Diesel's leg was great, as was the fatal show of sympathy by Diesel towards the end. This is in my opinion Nash's bets match of his career and it's pretty much enitrely thanks to Bret Hart. It alosh had some of the best commentary I've ever heard, thanks to one Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig (Is there nothing he couldn't do )

*** 1/2

I'll come back with more later.

Dean Malenko vs. Scotty 2 Hotty for the Cruiserweight Title (Backlash 2000)
***1/2 out of 5

The Steiners vs. Terry Gordy and Steve Williams for the WCW Tag Titles (Beach Blast '92)
**** out of 5

Ricky Steamboat vs. Ric Flair for the NWA Title (WrestleWar '89)
***** out of 5

Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H (Summer Slam '02)
****1/2 out of 5

And just to get it out of the way early...

Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart Iron Man Match for the WWF Title (WrestleMania XII)
***** out of 5

I know everyone who is gonna see that match has already seen it, but it needs mentioning.

I'll probably think of some more later as well.

Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar - Hell in a Cell

Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels - Casket Match (IMO one of Taker's best matches)

AJ Styles vs. Low Ki vs. Jerry Lynn - Triple Threat Ladder Match in TNA

TLC 3 (The one from SmackDown!)

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but here are my picks (based exclusively on the tapes I have, 'cause these are freshest in my mind):

* The first HBK/Razor ladder match from WMX.
* Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn from Living Dangerously (I think)
* Bret vs. Owen from WMX (y'know, for as bad as some of WMX was, it had some greatness)
* The triangle ladder match from WMX7 (imo, the best Hardy/Dudley/E&C match)
* Royal Rumble 1997

I think we should play a game how about if we was on a desert island the rest of our life and we were able to take any 10 matches with us to keep:

I'd Pick

Flair vs Savage WM 8
Bret vs Shawn WM 12
Flair vs Steamboat COTC
TLC 4
RVD vs Jerry Lynn Hardcore Heaven 98
Austin vs Rock WM X-7
AMW vs XXX June 2003 NWA TNA show Steel cage
Goldberg vs DDP Halloween Havoc 98
Taker Vs mankind KOTR 98
Steamboat-Savage WM 3

3 alternates

Rock vs HHH Ladder match SS 98
Steamboat-Douglas Hollywood Blondes Slamboree 93
Marty Janetty- HBK RAW June 93

By the way does anybody remember this nitro match I think the match was
Rey-Juvi- vs La Parka Pyschosis all i remember was it was a 12 minute NON STOP MATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (note i may have some of the participants wrong) if anyone knows what i am talking about help me clarify this match ) IBut it was one of the best Nitro Matches i'd ever seen

Lets whip out some 2000 matches and see what we come up with.....

Austin/Triple H "No DQ"- Survivor Series 2000

Benoit/Jericho"Ladder Match" - No Way Out 2001?

Austin/Triple H vs.Undertaker/Kane - Backlash 2001

^The above may not have been everyone's favorite, but Austin/Triple H put on a great clinic on how heels are played

And of course, the magnificent top cage moonsault(and the overrated Benoit top cage headbutt)

That was the previous year. SS '95 had Bret facing Isaac Yankem, DDS. It also had a ladder match between HBK/Ramon.

That was at the RR. At NWO it was a Fatal Fourway IC Title match (which was also awesome). Also from that show I'd easily recommend Austin/Triple H and Angle/Rock.

I'd also recommend:
Taz/Awesome/Tanaka Anarchy Rulz '99
Austin/Triple H v. Benoit/Jericho 5/21/01
Austin/Benoit 5/31/01
Eddy/RVD 5/27/02 (Ladder Match)
Edge/Angle 5/30/02 (Cage Match)
Angle/Kane 11/2/01
Angle/Benoit WrestleMania X-7
Psicosis/Tajiri 8/26/00
Austin/Angle SummerSlam 2001
HBK/Mankind IYH: Mindgames
Angle/Mysterio SummerSlam 2002
Black Tiger v. Jushin Lyger (1996 Best of the Super Juniors finals)

WWE

*Shawn Michaels v. The British Bulldog (For the Intercontinental title) - Saturday Night's Main Event, some time in 1992

Match Notes: Shawn Michaels won his first Intercontinental title here, and I think it is drastically underrated. One of my favorite matches ever.

*Rob Van Dam v. Jeff Hardy (Hardcore title) - InVasion, 2001

Match Notes: Yes, I know, InVasion was a shit stain on the proverbial underwear of wrestling history, but this was definitely the highlight of the show. RVD's re-debut with the WWF (if you count that pseudo-ECW invasion when Sabu jumped off the 'R' in RAW). I may also be a bit partial because I was in the 8th row for this one.

WCW

*Chris Jericho v. Raven (Maybe for the Television Title?) - Halloween Havoc '98

Match Notes: A match that wasn't even advertised kicked off the show, and stole it in my opinion. The best 'improptu' match I've ever seen. Jericho was at the peak of his popularity in the Crusierweight division, or at least getting there, and I've never enjoyed a wrestler more than him during that period.

That's what comes to mind for now.
