Just saw Velvet Revolver...
Holy fucking shit, what a show. I typed up a whole summary about the show on another site, but I don't feel like copying it right now. Maybe later. But holy shit, what a show! Any other VR fans in here? Quote:

They played like a 10 minute version of that. Someone threw beer on Scott. Hang on, lemme copy/paste my summary... |

Holy crap, that was the greatest show I've ever been to. Show started with Living Things, who were pretty good. I only recognized one of thier songs which is from NHL 2004. The lead singer's actions reminded me of an earlier Scott Weiland. They lasted about a half hour or so. The wait for VR was only about 20 minutes. Not even that. Then the real fun began. Now, I don't remember the exact set list, but it went something like this.
They kick off the show with Sucker Train Blues, Do it for the kids, Big Machine and Headspace. All of them sounded fucking amazing. If Scott was sick, he sounded fine to me. They moved on to Crackerman which sounded awesome. I think it was around this time they played Fall To Peices. After that, Slash talked about how he was in Phoenix a few years back and they never got to play. So they played Illeagal i for about 7 min. Slash wore his tophat and brought out the fucking voicebox!! Slash threw in some riffs from.... god damnit I can't remember the name. It was a rap song. California something. Anyways, they got around to Mr. Brownstone and It's So Easy. Their "last" song was Set Me Free which lasted (or seemed like) 10 min. They then head off stage. I've never heard anything louder than that arena at that time. The noise was indescribable. After a few minutes, they come back and play I Used To Love Her. Sex Type Thing was next. Scott starts to sing on the entrance, and then he just dissappears. He's gone for about 2 min while the band is still playing. He finally shows up in the rafters. IN THE FUCKING RAFTERS! And wouldn't you know it, he stays right above us (some sweat of his dropped on my friend). He leads the crowd in cheering and clapping and whatnot. They then leave the stage. And it got louder. They come back and play Slither. While playing Slither, some asshole threw a beer at Scott. Security picked him up and put him on stage. Scott told him to sit down in front of the drumset. The fucker decides to play air drums during the whole song. At the end of the song he starts to jump up and cheer. Scott tells him "Dude, you shouldn't be celebrating. You threw a beer at me. When you throw a beer at us, you're disrespecting the band. Got off the stage." A mixed reaction at that point. Pepople were cheering for Scott and some were booing the clown offstage. Also, during the song, Slash got tripped up and fell over backwards by some guy who was holding Slash's ankles as he was being escorted away from his seat. They finish the show with thier cover of Negative Creep by Nirvana. Scott, threw the micstand and almost pegged Slash. Luckily, it missed him and flew into a crowd of insignificant fans (I smell another Courtneyish scandal) After that, he left his megaphone on the siren and they all left the stage. It was fucking unbeilveable. And here's the part that's gunna piss you guys off. They were on stage for about 2 hours. I hear the average show is about 1 hr an 15min. Sucks for you guys. So for those of you who went, those of you who are jealous, or those of you who have any questions, add your input. Velvet fuckin Revolver !!! |

My thing with downloading albums is this: If I like the album that I download, I will make a point to go out and buy it, simply to support a band that I enjoy.
If I don't like it, I simply delete it and don't worry about it. I saw a cd in Tower Records the other day that was about 2 years old and not hard to find - yet it was priced at 22 dollars-- for TEN songs. Why would I waste my money when I don't even know how good it will be? Granted, I buy cd's all the time, but I when I buy them, I almost ALWAYS know what to expect. I'm not going to waste my money on something that very well could be shit. Last time I did that, I ended up with Sugar Ray's 14:59 cd and wasn't able to return it - I could only exchange it for the same cd. Fuck that. |

Same. I d/l about 3 or 4 songs from an album. If I like what I hear, I go buy it. If I don't then I delete or don't share the files. So, I'm kinda but not really a hypercrite. But I'm definitly someone who can't spell. |

I only download when something is expensive, say more than 15 or 20, and I want to check it out first. Or when its a band that I've only heard of and never actually heard. I usually try to buy most of my stuff second hand

STP was background music in my brothers room for years. Love em. But due to the fact that this IS Scott Weiland, I'm afraid that this may not last as long as some people may want it to. In fact Velvet Revolver has techincally been together for a few years now I think, but with all of Scott's problems it got postponed. While I haven't heard the album, I have to think that it will remind me of Audioslave. Bands forming from other big bands never seems to be a fit for very long.
But that doesn't mean I don't like it. I've actually enjoyed Audioslave's album and Slither (which is all I've heard from VR) |

Did Audioslave break up so they could reform RATM? If not, then I am still sad.

Audioslave, from what I hear, is working on a new album.
I highly doubt RATM will be getting back together. DeLaRocha is probably too busy burning american flags in cuba. HOWEVER, I heard somewhere that there is a Soundgarden reunion in the works for a couple years from now, after Audioslave is done... None of this can be backed up though |

I picked up the Velvet Revolver CD Friday, when I got paid:
This is fucking Rock 'n Roll. The Riffs were killer, Scott sounded the best he has in years, and it is just good shit all in all. This is perhaps the best album of 2004, as of right now. |

I downloaded it the other night, listened to it once, and put it on to minidisc.
It's on the same disc as Motorhead, My Chemical Romance and Black Sabbath - I need help.... |
