JBL on Stern UPDATE!!!

After the break Howard said he was jamming with Hoobastank during the commercials. He's going to play keyboards for them during their song. He went on to talk about Ray Charles and a discussion they had the other day about whether or not he'd be buried with the sunglasses on. Howard read that Charles is laying in state with his sunglasses on. Howard was surprised and found that to be kind of surprising. They spent a minute on that and then brought in Bradshaw from the WWE.

Howard said that the guy was dressed in a suit and you don't usually see wrestlers dressed in a suit. He went on to talk about how Bradshaw has been in the WWE since 1995. He was also a financial analyst as well. He was working on CNBC as a financial analyst but part of his act over in Germany was to goose step in front of the audience. He said that he'd been doing it for 13 years over there because he plays the part of villian in the WWE.[COLOR=blue] He said his character is supposed to be a reprehensible character. He said it's a cross between Pat Buchannan and David Duke among a few others.

Bradshaw does have a basic script to follow when he's playing his character but he also has a certain amount of freedom to do what he wants as well. He gets the audience going and when the good guy wins, everyone goes home happy. Howard said all he was doing when he was goose stepping was reminding the Germans about their history. Howard pointed out that Bradshaw is just playing the part of a character in this WWE thing so people shouldn't take it so seriously. It's like he's in a movie or something and it's scripted.

Bradshaw doesn't think that he's that great of an actor so he doesn't know why CNBC fired him for playing a part like that. Bradshaw said that the German media says that him giving a Nazi salute is not against the law over there so they're actually defending him. Bradshaw says that CNBC believes that what he did was wrong so they let him go.

Artie did his Eric Bishoff impression for a few seconds but forgot the name of the character he was impersonating which was pretty funny. Gary came in and told Howard that Bradshaw found out about being fired through a press release. They didn't even tell him directly. Howard said it's very similar to what Clear Channel is doing to him. They are slandering him and making it very hard for him to get another job.

Howard took some phone calls and let some people talk about what's going on. One guy said that Bradshaw went over to Iraq and wrestled over there. Eric the Midget called in and said that he finds some of that stuff that Bradshaw did to be offensive because he had family members who fought in that war and died. Bradshaw said he had people in his family who died as well. He told Eric that his character is scripted so he should get over it. Howard said that Eric is out of it because he has a crush on American Idol Kelly Clarkson.

Howard told Bradshaw that he thinks CNBC is out of line for doing this to him so he feels bad for him. He gave him a couple of plugs for an upcoming match he has against Eddie Guererro.

A guy claiming to be a CNBC producer called in and said that this guy pretending to be a Nazi was just wrong and if he has to go around posing as a Nazi to make a pay check, he deserves to be fired. Howard told him he was out of line and got him off the phone a short time later.

Howard talked about Bradshaw about his engagement to Merideth Whitney from FOX news for a short time. They've only been together for about 9 months but they're already engaged. Howard thinks that he should take it a bit slower and not do the same thing that Stone Cold Steve Austin did and go through a bunch of marriages. He ended the segment a short time later and took another commercial break.

Howard probably said something similar to "Wow, really? I find that to be kind of surprising" and they wrote as they went along.

I thought it WAS against the law to do Nazi salutes in Germany or something... seems like he's saying the opposite of the truth throughout that paragraph.

I read a different transcript thingo, and it said Bradshaw said that it was not against the law to perform an act like that during entertainment. Like a movie is OK. I have to agree with Bradshaw, what he did was in really bad taste, but he did raise some really good points (about the Nazi thing).

HHH had sex with a 'dead corpse' on national television.

I don't think what JBL did was that much in bad taste. He came out to get a sour reaction from the crowd and he pulled out a cheap trick to do it. So what? It wasn't as much in bad taste as it was unoriginal.

It is my understanding, judging from a friend of mine who spent the majority fo two years as an exchange student in Germany, that it's not against the law to do it during a closed performance like a TV shooting, but if you have a live audience like a sporting event (or sports entertainment event) then it is illegal. I could be wrong either way though.

I don't know about that. Considering German citizens are saying otherwise, I'm not tempted to believe Bradshaw here.

Germany still censors many imported shows that even have Nazi-esque connotations. Seems weird that they would bar lesser "nazi" notions and make it okay to do the Nazi salute on TV. That's like barring cross burning on TV in the states, because it's a sign of hate, but allowing guys in white sheets to lynch people on TV is okay.

Personally, I don't get offended by any 'nazi' thing, maybe it's because I wasn't around when it all happened, sure it was bad of hittler to kill all those people just because he hated that race, but that was then, someone doing the 'nazi salute' doesn't mean they are a nazi and they want people to become a nazi... okay I didn't actually see the show, but it doesn't seem like a big deal, if anything I would have laughed it off, but I guess CNN or whatever channel fired him must have been over protective and fired him before people could write in and get a huge media attraction from their "wrestler Nazi" on the payroll...

My point is... uh... well.. What's the big deal?

I think Bradshaw is a dick, and of course Stern will defend him. Even if Stern though it was wrong, he'd agree, he's a shock jock for crying out loud. Supporting Bradshaw could (Major emphasis on could) draw some attention.

I don't know. If it was Angle or the Rock, my opinion probably WOULD be different.

Mostly because my opinion of Bradshaw had almost bottomed out anyways. I couldn't lose the level of respect for him that I could for Rocky or Angle.

Anyone and everyone in Germany is subject to the hate crime laws and race laws the German government laid down after the war.

Bradshaw committed a crime in foriegn country that he obviously did not know enough about. He was lucky enough to get out of that Arena alive, most people who even immitate Hitler or Nazism even if in a joke get a shit kicking and then get thrown in jail to get another shit kicking.
