Drive in Theaters.
Sadly, they're very rare anymore.
My wife, two of our children and I went to a drive in last night. I forgot how enjoyable they are. To bad they aren't as popular around the world ( I guess) as they used to be. Any drive in near you? Any of you go to drive ins? Post stories or opinions of Drive in experiences. Begin. |

I think there is one that is anywhere near me. One of the last ones was torn down a month or so ago.

There's one right down the street from me, but it isn't in use anymore. They've been building new buildings near it for the past few years, I think it's not gonna be much longer before the last big screen comes down.
I used to get taken there when I was little, but have never had the pleasure of going to one on a date or anything. |

I've got one to the west, and one to the east. They're both about 30 miles away. I see the majority of my movies at the Drive-in, I haven't been to the actual movie theater (non-dollar theater) since April. Holiday weekends are really fun at the West drive-in, they have a dusk til dawn (four movies), and before the movie they have a car you can hit with a sledgehammer for charity, and a dunk tank along with a few things to do for the kids.

There's one like 45 minutes away from where I live and I used to go all the time as a kid.
I went once this year with my girlfriend to see Walking Tall and Van Helsing. This is the last year it's going to be open though. There turning the area into a Home Depot with in the next couple of years. |

There used to be one 5 minutes from my house but it went out of business. I used to love going there. My friends and I would go every week. It was 5 bucks and you get to see 2 movies... it was pretty much worth it no matter what you see.

Ahh, the good ole days. They tore down the one here, but i used to love going. They would always play 2 in each section so we would see a 2 for 1 deal. I remember seeing Ricochet, Hotshots, and I forget what others. My uncle would sneak us in and then we would get drunk in the car

Theres a drive in about an hour away from where I live. I saw The Scorpion King and The Sweetest thing. Both were shown together. $10 a car. Not bad.

We got one in my city. Its pretty ok they play double features during weekdays and trips on weekends. Theyre only open during the spring and summer months. At the beginning of their season they charge 7 bucks a person but once school lets out and what not they lower it to 10 bucks a carload. I havent gone because I just dont have that kind of spare time.

They have one where my parents live. It's pretty fuck>ing sweet. You pay the $7.50 per person, and they show 2 movies back to back. Good times.
Sadly they don't have many anymore. I'd rather do that then go to a theater any day of the week. |

I am originally from Western Pennsylvania. A few miles away from my hometown, there is still a drive-in. I love going there when i get back to PA.

The reason they are all gone is cause the movie industory takes 90% of what your tickets cost and ppl bring there own food to the drive in so most went out of bussines. I have one a hour away from me it is the best I love going there we go about twice a year. There is another one by us but they cost more if your bring in food but when we go we do both.

They should combine the elements of drive-in movies and theatres.
I know there are people who dont want to drain their car batteries and often times, the sound is really low and is not as enjoyable. So, I say they should put some speakers around the theatre installments to improve the sound. Then people could also turn their cars on if they want to. Put some bolted seats around in sections. Maybe put up some BBQ pit areas...
