JBL doing better than expected
I know what your thinking...what is this guy thinking? Not everyone agree, but his not doing bad. Don't think about him from your view, but from his performents. He playing a heel perfect, his promos are good and his PPV matches with Eddy have been good. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest JBL fan and they have'nt put him up against anyone else, but as of now he's doing good. Write back
P.S.-He not going to have the title long. "Some fall short, some come stong, but with Sensai you get's no dice baby!!!" -sensai86 |

Yeah, I'll admit I wasn't very high on him at all at first, but he has done very well with his character. His promos are very good, but the question is, how will he fair against a gUY WHO's not your Eddie Guerrero type wrestler. It will be interesting to see how well he does against Taker. Might be a horrible match or it might be good. We'll just have to wait and see.

I have barely watched wrestling in the past 8 weeks (30-60 mins a week) but from what I have saw, he didn't look that good.

Yeah, Smackdown has gotten really hard to watch for me as well. I just usually watch the main storylines: JBL/Eddie/Taker/Angle stuff and nothing else. I watch all of Raw though.

As much as I hate to admit it I do find JBL entertaining. I would probably find him more entertaining if I didn't know hat an ass he is is. However the promo he cut on Smackdown was hilarious. But like LC said we have to see how he does with a guy that isn't as good as Eddie. I also still don't approve of him getting the title.

JBL has that growing factor about him. I think if they stick with this JBL character, they can make a star out of nothing. Bradshaw used to be the guy that got the pops because he was the big Texan guy, now they've given his character depth and he's shown he can play it. He is earning is position more and more everyday, and if he did retain the title at Summerslam, I wouldn't be too upset.

Vince does this all the time: takes a guy who can't wrestle for shit, gives him an entertaining gimmick, and creates a superstar.
Look at Hogan. |

The thing that still bugs me about JBL is his drawn out entrances. I dont usually make it past the eternal limo ride.

The limo was thought of to compete with Eddie's low riders.

To be fair, having good matches with Eddie Guerrero isn't exactly an accomplishment.

Yeah, I mean Eddie could pull a 5 star match out of Kane Knight if he wanted to try...

I just feel that a better talent than JBL could be champion like RVD or Booker T. I do find JBL a bit boring to watch.

Definitely. They dropped the ball with RVD and Booker T again....
maybe if they gave RVD more of a chance, we wouldn't see the same match over and over and over. JBL also, save the Eddie match, hasn't had any real challengers to the belt. He's fought Spike Dudley, "El Gran Luchador", and random jobbers. At least Benoit, for hardly seeing him on TV has fought a lot of "scares" to the belt (HHH and HBK numerous times, Kane)....save perhaps Eugene, but that wasn't a squash. |

For the JBL/ Undertaker match to be watchable, it's going to have to be played out one of two ways. A. Have Bradshaw be hellishly effective and impactful. Have him dominate for awhile, even nailing mutliple power bombs and CFH. Make it at one point where the Undertaker tries to sit up and can't. Regardless of who wins, it'll make JBL look like a monster.
Or, they could do the opposite. They could have Bradshaw get destroyed, but keep getting up. THe problem with this is that this kind of determination is usually used to turn heels face, ala Bret Vs Austin. Instead, they would need to keep JBL heel, but make him look like he can take a shit load of punishment and keep going. I'd go with making him a monster. Raw has one in Batista, but Smackdown hasn't had a good one since Lesnar. Luther Reigns would probably work better than Bradshaw though, because Bradshaw's cocky heel gimmick doesn't really flow with being a monster in the ring. |

Well, I don't blame the WWE for having JBL feud with Taker. From what I've been reading in some news letters, mostly Pro Torch, Taker, along with Cena, are the two biggest draws on Smackdown. Taker's segments are mostly the higest rated, which means people tune in and don't change the channel when he's in. The WWE is only reacting to what they are seeing as indicated by viewers interest. I'm curious to see the numbers Taker's segment got with Bradshaw this week.

Bradshaw has definitely done well so far, and he is very good in the non-wrestling aspects of the business. However, he has been average in the ring and of course being with Eddie helped a lot. I hope that he can show us some great wrestling because this character really has potential, and if he can't cut it in the ring, then this becomes a waste of a good character.

As much as I hate to admit it, he hasn't exactly dropped the ball. I'd also be liking this more if he wasn't such an ignorant bigot and bully in real life. However, I still view him as an overpushed upper midcarder. He still has yet to seem like a main eventer. He has yet to PIN a legitimate wrestler. Spike and El Gran Luchador don't count.
So basically, he lacks main event credibility. But his character (not him personally, but his CHARACTER) is very entertaining. |

OK, I've bene inspried by this thread, so I'm going to do my best to compile my thoughts on the matter.
JBL, good champ or bad? Well he's over with the crowd, entertaining to listen too, a surprise champ and, although not the best quality wrestle,r puts great effort into his matches. I'd say so far I'd give him a 7/10 on the Champion scale. Eddie was quickly declining, so having a heel champ is a good change of pace. Eddie Guerrero may be one of the bests there is, but I'm sick of this carrying crap. Sure, Eddie in matches raises the expected level, but it takes two to tango. When two guys put effort into their match, it is watchable, when one of those guys is Eddie Guerrero yes it raises the bar, but the other guy deserves just as much credit. Layfield is not lacking in the effort department. At Summerslam, I'm starting to hope for a clean JBL win. If JBL is not in the books to win, I hope they go through with what JBL said, and make him look like a Champion we can be proud of. I'd like to see all of JBL's heat come from him not being a liar and a cheat, but a winner that keeps his word. Something that hasn't really been done is a heel that gets his heat because the fans are the real heels. I know this sounds a bit strange, but I'd like to see JBL basically play the guy that always keeps his promises and does what he says, sort of like a truthful politician. He's be the heel only because he is a "superior" model to all of us, and let's us know it. Sort of what he is now, but make him look dominant and credible. When you think about it, everyone saw Steve Austin as the kickass guy. He never said he was better than anyone, he just whooped their ass. I'd like to see them do that with Layfield, but have him let us now he's better than us, and he could whoop us like anyone else in the ring. A classy Stone Cold if you will. Eventually you can have him turn face as the "George Bush" type politician, and give him a "Bomb 'Em All" attitude. JBL could be even bigger than he is now face or heel. I can see RVD turning heel very soon. Maybe even as early as Summerslam. A heel RVD vs. face JBL feud would be excellent, IMO. That can wait for a while, though. I can see RVD become the "nice guys finish last" type character with the cocky attitude. |

I thought the idea of RVD and Booker T going to Smackdown was so they could have title runs? but no we get JBL as champion, but yeah JBL is doing alot better than expected.
