Eugene Blamed for Lower Ratings?

This has got to be a joke?? Since Christian left due to injury, Eugene and Regal angle has been the only interesting angle/wrestlers on Raw. The Kane/Lita/Hardy lovechild/marriage angle is probably a bigger reason for lower rating. Everytime that segment came on, I changed the channel out of boredom and feeling embarrased for the people acting out the angle. Not saying the Eugene character/angle is classic, but it is hardly a reason to tune out.

Wasn't everyone, including officials and those backstage, going nuts about Eugene character a few weeks ago? If they wanted a scapegoat then maybe they should look at the Lita/Kane/Hardy thing and the severe lack of build-up between Orton and Benoit.

I can see blaming Eugene, I know everyone I watch wrestling with thinks he's the dumbest thing they've ever seen. Personally I hate it, so I could see why people would tune out because of it.

But ratings have gone down before, and when the NFL starts up the regular season, the numbers will likely fall even more.

Don't just blame Eugene. Blame the stupid marriage angle since its been done before and it is just really stupid this time. I don't see a problem with the wrestling at the moment, so there are obviously some storyline and gimmick problems. Eugene's character was going to die soon enough, but it was just a question of when. Dinsmore should not take the blame whatsoever because he has taken the ball and run with it very well.

Just to try and steer this back on course:

Yes, the Eugene idea was monumentally stupid and moderately offensive, but it has been one of the more entertaining stories over the last couple of months. It's given us

* William Regal returning, turning face, and being established as someone that (gasp) Triple H almost fears
* Nick Dinsmore acting his heart out in a gimmick that I'm sure he never wanted to begin with
* A reason for some casual wrestling fans to see Chris Benoit as a human being (and a true "good guy"), as opposed to the unfeeling machine he's been portrayed as for years.

It's debatable whether the last thing is a good thing or not, but the angle is not without its merits. On the other hand:

The RAW Diva Search

WWE is going to give a woman a quarter of a million dollars to look pretty. This is the same company who, in the last three or four years, has buried and/or released dozens of talented in-ring performers. $250,000 could pay the annual salary for more than one of these wrestlers. When one WWE brand is "firing" their Divas because they don't have anything for them to do, why should fans care about the new one they're bringing in?

The Marriage

How does WWE use its most talented big man, as well as a charismatic high-flier with a gimmick that crowds react to? Why, have them fight over the worst "wrestler" in the women's division, of course! Plus, it gives Lita a chance to act!

The World Tag Team Title Belts

The champions have been made to look like a joke, losing in non-title matches every chance they get. The top contenders have only been teaming for about a month. And they're expecting people to follow this for four more weeks? I hope there's something bigger planned.

World Title Belt - Second-Class Citizen?

We're told that the World Heavyweight Title is the most coveted prize in the industry, but the champion and number-one contender got less face time on television in the weeks leading up to the second biggest pay-per-view event of the year than the boss' son-in-law and the wrestling retard.

There is some good on RAW, and truth be told, I've actually enjoyed the show more over the last couple of weeks than I have in a while, but you can not blame the show's falling ratings on one character when fans can come up with lists like mine just off the tops of their heads of reasons why your show isn't working.

The thing is I haven't found much of the Eugene-HHH angle to be entertaining. The only part I really liked was when Regal cut that promo on HHH, but they could have done that over Hunter spilling some of Regal's tea.

The fact of the matter is Eugene-HHH has taken up way more time than any other angle on RAW. So unless their QH's are through the roof and the rest of the show is in the toilet, they have to take the blame. Well, Hunter will never take any blame, so it goes to Eugene.

The Lita-Kane deal and the Diva Search doesn't help, but I dont think those things are as big of an impact of viewing habits as the main angle is.

I see it as the fans have turned on Eugene as a main event player. But thats really the WWE's fault for taking a gimmick that people liked to laugh at from the opening card spot where it belongs to the main event and burying the World Title for it. But like Hunter, WWE creative seems to be untouchable, so again Eugene is the only guy they can blame.

The writers and management have never been ones to blame themselves. They're too obessed with their power and fail to see their shortcomings. Ultimately, it may very well lead to the destruction of the company if they keep it up, which is a shame. But this, as despicable as it is, is nothing new. I just feel sorry for Nick Dinsmore, who has to play the character. He'll undoubtedly get backlash from fans who think it's his fault that his character is literally retarded, and of course, now, he's getting backlash from management.

I have that feeling HHH said something to Vince that Dinsmore hurt him and is bad for the company and ratings. Then again this is the usual HHH paranoia.

But yes,all the blame should go on Kane/Lita. It WAS interesting but 3 months later, who cares? And Eugene is becoming an interesting character,especially one that was at one time, the worst thought up character in WWE history. But became likable and gain a following so what do the writers do: blame Eug for the downfall of ratings. Hell, I'd blame Edge for the fall but that's just me personally. Well,Edge and Lita/Kane. And RAW Diva search.

And speaking of the Diva Search, it was wise to use it as a Raw segment because if it was on a different time slot then no one would watch. It is also to blame for, but the company will not blame it because they know it would fail and be meaningless if it wasn't on Raw. So in other words, all this screws Nick Dinsmore and possible others.

Eugene is about as good as I could have ever hoped for this angle to be.

That being said, it's a dead end, it's myopic (As you said), and it's a bad idea. Did I mention a bad idea? The character's kind of out of steam already, and the Creative team is hardly innovative enough to come up with stories for the regular folks...How are they gonna handle this one?

Yeah,they could do something like that but, I feel he maybe sent to OVW for the remainder of his contract or just released outright.
