wag2k has done some stupid things
Question info on inside stuff requested

i have been watching raw & smackdown for about 4 years now - mainly just because i ENJOY them - i work long hours and i just want some light entertainment when i get home
i think some of the storylines are great (hhh / shaun feud) (eugene) and some are shit (lita/kane/matt) (nathan jones - although i think he was an awesome size) but as i said i ENJOY both shows

i found this website a few months back and i am amazed at how much you people know about wrestling.

so what is the infrastructure in the wwe?
who are the main peeps who come up with the storylines?
how long before they go on air do the wrestlers know who they will be facing that night?
how long does it take for both wrestlers to prepare and practice for a normal match and also for something like a steel cage match?

never thought about it before - just watched

reading all the threads got me to wondering about things thats all

anyone give me any inside info?

I'll try to answer this lot as best I can:

so what is the infrastructure in the wwe?

Hmmm, not quite sure what you mean here, as far as chain of command Vince runs the overall show and therefore in turn most big decisions go through him, from big things like going on the stock market to turning a worker heel/face Vince has a finger in the pie.

Who are the main peeps that come up with the storylines?
On Smackdown it's currently Bruce Pritchard and on RAW....Dammit! I can't remember the guy name! Well they are the head storyline writers, Raw I believe recently recruited a bunch of Hollywood writers to bring in and freshen up everything. Other notable mentions go to Steph Mcmahon who gives input and probably has the overall say on what will go on a show and what doesn't. Vince will also come up with storylines and characters himself, I think he came up with the JBL gimmick

Other well-known bookers in the past are as follows:
Vince Russo
Paul Heyman
Kevin Nash (WCW)
Flair (WCW)

how long before they go on air do the wrestlers know who they will be facing that night?

To be honest it could be a few hours before the show, it could be a few weeks, and it depends on what the situation is. If say they announce next week 2 guys are wrestling each other they would have a weeks notice, but sometimes filler may be needed I.e. on Velocity. Advanced writing used to be done on the Monday afternoon before Raw, so I would assume that unless a wrestler is already aware of a feud/advanced match that they would find out on that day. I know that as far as house shows goes they either find out on that night or are 'married' to a wrestler for a few shows. They normally do a marriage when a PPV is coming up or another big match so they 2 guys can work out a routine together and get used to each others style before it goes on TV

how long does it take for both wrestlers to prepare and practice for a normal match and also for something like a steel cage match?

Once you learned how to train, that's all you really get, once your in the WWe there's no time for practicing, technically that's what house shows are there for so 2 guys can feel each other out for TV, your example of a Cage match doesn't really require alot more than a normal match, all you have to do it climb a cage really slowly and maybe do a big bump, there's no really way to practice that

In reply to your questions...

Don't bother asking. Life was so much simpler as a mark. I, like you, enjoyed it a whole lot more. Knowing the politics and all just frustrates me, for example, when I know that HHH is holding my favourite wrestler down.

I wish i could go back, but it's hard when you see that thread saying 'Spoiler'. Don't get me wrong, the backstage world is fascinating, but i want to be naive again. The good ol' days.

Here Here! I wish I had never found this site, honestly sometimes I wish I hadn't. I've tried not reading the spoilers but its nearly impossible not to. and I can't help myself over here. I have to read, I have to post. I miss the days of being a Semi Smart Mark. Where I could predict what was coming. Then feel Smart when I was right. Now, I know it all 6 months in advance and I'm loosing interest in watching Smackdown. Cause I read the stupid spoilers week in and week out. See, I like TNA cause Not many spoilers on that yet.

Quoth the Raven, Nevermore.

Okay, here's my point of view.

Triple H ownz (yeah, that's right, ownz with a "z") Raw. It was his wedding present from Vinne Mac Daddy.
Vince hired a group of monkeys to book SmackDown.
He hired a midget who wants to be big vicariously through talent as the company’s talent scout.
None of this is real.
The following people are forbidden from “The Wheel Of Decent Push” roulette style table:
*Chris Jericho
*RVD
*Hardcore Holly (never after his last push)
*Cruiserweights
*Billy Gunn
*(insert who you think is over talented and underrated here)
Jim Ross hired Magellan The Great as to erase the memories of the fans so they can do angles like Booker T finding a note that says “I Still Remember” and then not do anything about.
Chris Benoit is the Raw Naptime Enforcer

Booker T also had the inexplanable storyline of going to a grave yard after consulting a psychic, picking up some soil froma grave and then have a gloved hand emerge from the grave once he left...
WTF! He even carried the soil to the dam match with Undertaker and did nothing!!!

But I don't remember the 'I still remember' note thing.
