New Years Revolution
www.411wrestling.com
An upcoming WWE PPV, "New Year's Revolution" will be live from Puerto Rico. --------------- Crappy name, but maybe, just maybe, we'll get CCC as the WWE Champion. Now THAT would be cool. ![]() |

If this a Raw ppv, than that's another stupid move by the WWE. Smackdown has a Puerto Rican US champ in CCC and his father is like Ric Flair there, they also have Latino wrestlers in Eddie,Rey and Chavo on the roster. Why would Raw get that ppv?
Why have this ppv the same month as the Royal RUmble, one of the biggest ppv of the year? |

Exactly my thoughts. Who the fuck is gonna buy a PPV when they're saving up for the rumble? Especially when there are so many more during the year to come, really bad move for the future by the WWE. |

I'm hoping for Kane vs. Triple H to headline that PPV. I don't know why. Kane should go over via DQ. Then Kane wins the Rumble and faces Triple H at Mania.

Kane makes sense for a PPV with Hunter, but not Mania.

The answer to your question is; as long at they make money off them, as many as they can.
PPVs are the most profitable part of their business. And even though buys continue to drop (on average per show) they still keep generating tons of money by adding new shows and raising prices. |

I think their goal all along has been to get to 20 PPVs. I dont think they have a set date when to do it, but I'd say 2 years from now, we'll be sitting at 20 shows a year.
It goes back to the days when WCW/WWE and ECW were all running PPVs. Many people ordered at least the WCW and WWE shows, and even though the shows were a bit cheaper back then, they dont need to hit the same levels they were hitting back in the late 90s. As long as they can stay above that 200,000 buys mark for all the shows, they'll be laughing all the way to the bank. As far as the added show in January, I dont see it as a big deal. The show is near the beginning of January, and the Rumble is at the end of the month. So they'll still have about 3 weeks in between shows, which is the norm nowadays. I think this is just a case of how certain dates worked out, kinda like how Mania this year is in April and so is Backlash. But as long as they have a break between the shows, its no big deal. The other thing to consider is that the Rumble doesn't need much build. Its almost always the second highest drawing PPV of the year, and I think most people buy the show "just because its the Rumble". So I really dont think an extra show at the beginning of January will have much on impact on the RUmble's numbers. It might hurt the NYR show, but I think there are a certain number of fans who will just buy every PPV no matter what. |

I wouldnt mind it as much if it was on a non-big 4 PPV month... But on the month of the Rumble!? That's fucking bullshit... If they want to do multipul PPVs right, atleast keep the big 4 the ONLY PPV that month... Otherwise, knowing WWE, it'll be three PPVs that month... One for RAW, SmackDown!, and interbrand...

PPv's used to be something speial when there was just 4, now theres far too many. Crowds for the most part at ppv's seem pretty dead as well, i see better crowd reaction on friggin raw or smackdown. Well aside from undertakes entrance, they pop for that then as soon as hes in the ring they all go back to sleep.

Maybe the WWE could really do something original with this event? Make it worthwhile for our viewing. Maybe have Carlito Caribbean Cool make a surprise appearance and defend the US Title with Vince McMahon's permission. That would be cool.
BTW, who smells a Nidia Women's Title win now she's being billed as from Puerto Rico? Maybe they could have the fans in attendence vote on which matches they would like to see? Maybe an IC Title Ladder Match? I think if the PPV offers a large array of action, fans will really buy it, because leading up to the Royal Rumble, there is a lot of general interes buzzing, to see which direction the company will take with the new year. |

Personally I don't know what Vince was thinking when he split the franchise.
It's almost like he is trying to make up for the WCW being gone and feels he must compete with himself. It's weird. I have a really hard time getting excited about all the PPVs these days. Some of them are good, some of them put me to sleep.... |

The only way wwe can make PPV's meaningful is by shortening the amount of PPV's that there are, I mean I used to look forward to PPV's a few years ago when they meant something, but now they just seem like an extended show of Raw or Smackdown to me, it's a pity Vince doesn't think long-term.

Here's what I think:
Survivor Series will be the only Smackdown PPV. Raw will have Armageddon in mid-to-early December, and New Year's Revolution will be a Smackdown PPV in the last Sunday before the new year. The Royal Rumble will be the only January PPV. There'd be some random Raw PPV in Mid February and No Way Out (Smackdown) in the last Sunday of February. This gives them at least a month (if not more) to completely build up Mania without any more PPVs, and hopefully after WM21 is done, Vince will take a look at the 2004-2005 fiscal year and realize that he should revert back to the one-PPV a month because nobody wants to buy 30 PPVs a year. |

Yeah, I mean thats clearly where they are going. 2 Brand exclusive shows every month, except for the major 4, which will remain as the only PPVs that month, and remain dual shows, with Mania the only one where we get SD vs RAW matches.
The thing with the NYR is that its essentially the second December show, its just that with the Holidays, it got pushed back to January. I wouldn't be shocked to see them bring back Starrcade next year to replace NYR. |

WWE Royal Rumble- Both, Jan
WWE Road to WrestleMania- RAW, Feb WWE No Way Out- SmackDown!, Feb WWE WrestleMania- Both, March WWE Backlash- RAW, April WWE Judgment Day- SmackDown!, April WWE Bad Blood- RAW, May WWE Mayday- SmackDown!, May WWE King of the Ring- Both, June WWE 777- RAW, July WWE Fully Loaded- SmackDown!, July WWE Summerslam- Both, August WWE Unforgiven- RAW, September WWE September to Remember- SmackDown!, September WWE Halloween Havoc- RAW, October WWE No Mercy- SmackDown!, October WWE Survivor Series- Both, November WWE Vengeance- RAW, December WWE Armageddon- SmackDown!, December This is how I would set out the PPV scene for 2005. If the WWE then wanted, they could have maybe a Taboo Tuesday-ish interactive PPV once a year or something. |

I dont think we'll see KOTR come back, but the rest of it seems right (well not the names but the idea).
I know they released the PPV calendar for 2005 and at the time they had 15 PPVs, the 14 we've had/will have in '04, plus the new January show, but next year its booked for the end of Dec instead of early Jan. I hope we see more WCW names dusted off. Those names all have some value, so you might as well use them. I'd rather see a PPV names Super Brawl instead of New Year's Revolution, but thats just me. As far as Taboo Tuesday goes, I would bet if the show does a significant number they will have it every year, and perhaps even add a similar show for SD. I would also guess as long as the PPV business doesn't fall off by any huge degree they will add another couple shows every year. And like Ive said, the goal being to reach 20 PPVs per year. Its only logical, I mean even though No Mercy did a bad number (about 185,000 buys), if they were to do that same number or higher (which is likely) for TT they will have close to 400,000 buys for October. There's no way they would do that with one show. So thats why we'll see more shows added. But I dont think they want to add too many too soon because it seems like a shock to people who buy most or all the shows. Adding one or two every year makes it more likely that people will handle the extra costs associated with more shows. |

According to the WWE.com PPV calendar, Backlash will be on May 1st. Since it is usually in April (even when Mania is as well) does this mean Judgment Day will be pushed to June or will both be in May? I'm thinking the latter.

My guess would be that JD is something like the 15th or 22nd of May. Then Bad Blood would be in the middle of June, and GAB at the end of the month. |
