Is it just me, or is Fable a little boring?

I just got Fable for my Xbox, and I must say, with all the anticipation for this game I had building up inside of me, I must say I am relatively unimpressed with this game. There just doesn't seem to be much glue behind this game to draw you into its storyline and gameplay. I like what I've done so far, but without the challenges and without the character developement I find myself bored out of my wits exploring the towns, etc. I think this game would have been leaps and bounds better if it had dialogue trees for you to choose from.

Anyway, I'm just here to ask if this game picks up and sucks you in, or is it much of the same all the way though? I suppose these free-roaming RPGs aren't for me, because I found myself purchasing Morrowind and only playing it for a mere half-an-hour before getting tired of it.
