DVD Burning

Yeah, so I bought a DVD burner and have it hooked up and everything. And I was wondering how to burn movies I have onto my computer onto a DVD so it plays in a DVD player.

It came with some Sonic RecordNow program thing but is pretty crappy because I'd have to upgrade it and pay $40 to do what I want to. I have Nero (5.5 or something) and I have no idea how to use it to burn a DVD. The only recorder it shows is an Image Recorder.

So anyway, my question is how I would go about burning this and what program I should use.
