How shalt Thou bring back The Dudleys?

I am one of those that believe The Dudleys are stale, but after watching The Rise and Fall of ECW, my opinion has rotated 180 degrees. I still believe The Dudleys are an untapped source by the WWE, and if they returend fresh and interesting, they could be a MAJOR force behind the WWE.

Everyone goes on about AMW, and how they are the greatets tag team in the industry today, but do they hold a candle to The Dudley Boyz? In their prime The Dudleys were the definition of tag team, and while they had the same ingredients as most tag teams, they were different for the fact they had different icing. AMW are just a tag team that defines tag team, but is the icing there? I would mark out for AMW vs. The Dudley Boyz for this reason. Both are at the top of the industry for their different eras, but I doubt AMW will sign with the WWE for a while.

Anyway, how would you bring back The Dudleys tot he WWE, maybe breathing some life into the tag division doing so.

I'd bring back like this. On a random SmackDown!, say as early as next week (I'd say this week, but I'm not sure if the tapings are done yet or not), have Paul London vs. Nunzio as a match. Paul London picks up the clean win with a 450 Splash, but then out of nowhere come two black-robed superstars (with grey and brown rip patternings on them, Bubba grey, D-Von brown) and they bring with them a table. The Dudleys then light the table on fire, and 3D Paul through the flaming table (it wouldn't work with Paul come to think of it, with his attire). They then cut a promo about how they're back, and "Thou shalt not f*** with The Dudleys!", I don't know if they can say that, even if it was bleeped.

Anyway, then week in and week out, The Dudleys do whatever, attacking random people, and actually hitting real fans. By that I mean get someone really attending the event, maybe with out professional training, and asking them if they want to do it. Maybe even have a young kid take a 3D one day. Just have heaps and heaps of "extreme" stuff without them turning their matches into ECW style stuff. Maybe have them come in with their own tag belts, or something. There's an endless list of what they could do.

But anyway, how would you reinstate The Dudleys into the tag team division, if at all?

Pfft

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah. They are gonna attack real fans. Have you seen that Family Guy episode where Peter gets a verbal cheap shot on Alyssa Milano?

"Yeah, OK, I'm suing! I'm suing!"

Yeah, there's no way the WWE would ever have them attack untrained fans, especially young kids.

I think the best thing that could be done with the Dudleyz is to simply pair them with Heyman.

I wolud have Heyman show up talkin about how boring it has gotten in the WWE and that he is going to do something about it. Then the next week bring in the Dudleyz to attack RVD and Rey.

I don't mean untrained kids. There are a few around who can take bumps.

And the other fan could be one who's trained, but just someone who went there with friends. Or have them sign a contract with the WWE for a few appearances, maybe have them trying to sue The Dudleys. Or have the WWE offer them tickets for the next few SmackDown! events free of expenses. It doesn't need to be a closed fist either. Maybe just have Bubba slap him, or push him.

I said that I believed that in my first post, but seeing what they did in ECW, they haven't really done that in the WWE, and it didn't get stale in ECW, so why not carry it on in the WWE. Bubba, D-Von and Heyman would make great heels, IMO.

Hold Up Young Fella, The Dudleyz can't hold AMW jock right now. 3LK is even more entertaining than Dudleyz in the last year. Dudleyz has fallen and is no longer a must see team. The only time the Dudleyz can be entertaining if they do hardcore matches.

Probably have him cared of his brothers at first, worried about how he might be first on their list, then he ends up joining them.

I said AMW now can't compare to The Dudleys in their primes. The Dudleys in ECW were enertaining and were a flash tag team. AMW is great, but one has to wonder, would they be close to The Dudleys in tag team rank if they were in ECW at the same time as Bubba Ray & D-Von?

That wasn't a shot directed towards AMW, but more a compliment about how they've become a great tag team, but one has to wonder if that is just because there are very little credible tag teams around.

The reason the Dudley's can't go all out is because the WWE is chickenshit about losing advertisers and such. It didn't matter when business was up and they always had replacements, but now, they don't to risk anything.

Besides, do you really think management wants a couple of guys to get more pop/heat than one of "their boys?"

Good point. I guess they signed them, though, and have given them eight reigns with the World Tag Team Championship, and an addition two reigns with other Tag Team Championships (WCW and WWE), so they must see something in them.

I really dunno what theyre doing with the dudleys. A few months back they had heyman slapping them around to be more like the ecw dudleys, then out of the blue spikes the "boss" and is able to boss them around, that developed in about one week after spike turned heel. Another prime example of a storyline that could have went somewhere getting shit on by something stupid.

Sorry folks, but we will never see the ECW Dudleys in WWE...the sooner people accept that ECW character/attitude can not...for the love of god listen to me when I say CAN NOT thrive on a main stage platform. Part of that ECW was about doing everything that WWE and WCW would not/could not do. If they (WWE) did what ECW did they would be sued. ECW was shooting for a different market. Now could The Dudleys be a bit more extreme? Yes. Are they going to do flaming tables/angle of attacking kids? No. They can't just go out there and say the nastiest things to everyone...they now have to work within the rules.

On a side note to everyone, I know I have said this before (and gotten negative repped up the ass for it) but it is true. Rob Van Dam, Taz, Dudleys, Raven, Douglas, Dreamer...they can't do what made them over in ECW anymore. RVD can't really openly talk about 420...Taz can't be an unstopable bad ass when you have guys like Batista...The Dudleys can't say every nasty thing that comes to mind...Raven can't kidnap children...Douglas can go around talking about how the main guys in other promotions are "a bunch of dead mother fuckers"...Dreamer is really the only guy that could kind of keep himself the same, but even there he just didn't get over enough. I am sorry, I loved ECW (and might I add watched it habitually before most of you ever heard the letters of E-C-W), but that chapter of wrestling history is unfortunatly dead. Should it have died? No I don't think so, but for whatever reason it did...let the characters and wrestlers evolve and (in some ways) mold to the WWE image, becuase quite frankly doing that is what's best for them, their careers, and their families. Thank you I have said my peace.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. They seem too loyal to TNA, as I'm sure the WWE offered them more money. Maybe next time their contracts run out (if they're still a team then).

That's a good point. But I don't see why they tone The Dudleys down to being a generic tag team. They need something new, but nothing changing their characters too much. Just being with Heyman would be alright, but that doesn't seem to work out well most times, and Heyman is out of the WWE's good books for now.

The Dudleys are the HHH of the tag division. They are good, used to be great, but I am so bored with their schtick that I want them off my TV.

I guess they could come back and turn on Spike, and go face, which is okay for house shows, because their schtick seems to work for live crowds. For that reason I'd keep them on the roster, but I wouldn't push them or anything. There's nothing more to be done with them that we haven't seen a million times over.

Exactly. As much as I would love to see the ECW Dudley's have a go in the WWE, it's not going to happen. I'm not even talking about the flaming tables and all of that. Even back on ECW's first PPV I was captivated at how great of a tag team the two were. To me, they are bar none the best heel tag team, and quite possibly the best tage team period, ever to grace the ring. They need to be able to throw the rule book out the window. Bring the Dudley's back, have all their matches be tornado tag matches, no rules; anything goes, and let them cut a decent promo everytime they step into the ring. Raw is on a delay, they can beep out things.

I know, it's never going to happen. I don't expect it to or even wish aymore that it would. /me goes and pops in an old ECW tape.
