My thoughts on John Cena/Ignorant Fans

I posted a thread for Smackdown Spoilers, and in it mentioned I met John Cena. (This was last night, at the Mohegan Sun in CT.) Well, in case anyone's interested, I'd like to give you my opinion of him.... He's one of the coolest guys I've ever met.

He was signing autographs, taking pictures, and talking to people. When some little kid ran up to him and said, "You can't see me," Cena chuckled and said "Hey bud, what's up?" When I met Cena, I was wearing the new Word Life sweatshirt, and after I shook his hand and told him it was great to meet him he told me he liked my shirt What really surprised me though, was how HUMBLE and SOFT-SPOKEN he is. I could just tell that he really appreciates the fans, and it's amazing how he's able to act on TV because I think the real John Cena is actually sorta quiet.

Okay, with all that said, here's my complaint.... When Cena was outside, and everyone was running up to him, there was this one guy that was soooooo ignorant. He wanted a photo taken, an autograph for himself, an autograph for his two sons, and an autograph for his newphew. Cena gave him all those, without complaint, and then the guy would STILL not GO AWAY. I found that very rude and ignorant.

Oh, and then there was this kid (maybe 19 or 20 years old), and after he got the autograph and left and went back up to Cena and asked him to say hi to a group of people on TV! I swear, some of the fans just don't get it! Throwing themselves at him, not going away, and just generally being ignorant. Any thoughts?

Should have whispered to Cena that he should F-U that guy.

or F-U'ed him yourself

or just punch him in the jaw, doesn't have to be wrestling related

I only breifly met John Cena once, and that was about a year ago. I agree he seemed to be very nice. We talked for a few minutes, but he was running late and needed to get to a flight. Anyway Cena is a class act backstage.

As for rude fans, while yes they are completly disrespectful of others around them and quite often come across as dumb to the wrestlers themselves, do remember that they are very excited to met these people who they watch every week. I know it sounds odd, but I think they just get so swept up in the excitment of meeting them that they completly forget even the most basic of things like curtousy.

I would like a chance to meet Cena, but a friend of mine has. And he said the same thing of how surprised he was to see how quiet Cena actually was. The same thing happened when I met Batista. This guy was not the animal of Evolution, but a down-to-earth, soft spoken man.

John Cena is the man, from what I can tell he doesn't see himself as a big name wrestler and you as an insignificant fan, he sees the both of you as people and does the best he can to try and make you seem like you're on his level. You can even see he's really trying to in his promos, and the way he takes people's signs and runs through the crowd. This guy doesn't let his popularity boost his ego, he's a really good person, when I met him and called him god he called me crazy and laughed, there's a lot of wrestlers who would just have no expression and say "yup." The fact that he'd smile and say "what's up man" to every fan and talk to them a bit while there was a line up of like 600 people just shows he's the man. I am a part of his chain gang.

It's pretty cool, then, to see that stardom hasn't affected him for the worse. Way too often, we see guys who are originally nice guys but get successful and turn cocky or arrogant or selfish and end up hurting the business.

Yeah, cocky and arrogant and selfish.... like The Bashams, who refused to sign any autographs.

I met Jake "The Snake" Roberts a long time ago. He seemed pretty nice, though I wasn't much of a talker back then, so I only spoke long enough to get his autograph. My friend Rick talked with him for a while, though. Asked Jake what he thought of Goldberg (who was still in WCW at the time), and Jake just laughed, shook his head, and said Goldberg was a punk. Neat stuff.

Without fail my least favorite meeting of a known wrestling name was Honky Tonk Man...basically a bitch, my friend wrestled him later that night too and he worked so stiff that he had to go see a doctor the next day...yeah HTM is a bi-yotch!
