2 WM3 Questions

Just found this site and what a godsend to get the Q&A section, some of you guys have a ton of interesting knowledge so hopefully someone can help with some info or at least some educated guessing.

Lately been watching my old VHS copy of WM3 and re-realizing it was my favorite wrestling event, my two questions are these:

#1. in the 6 man tag between Hart Foundation & Danny Davis v. British Bulldogs and Tito Santana , can someone tell me exactly what happened that Danny Davis did in the previous tag match , and the intercontinenatal match that cost chico( as the body would say) the belt to MMRS? I know they mention that Davis was instrumental in all of them losing their belts but was it really obvious or did they just kind of create that angle out of nothing? thanks on that for any info

#2. Does anyone know or think that Ricky Steamboat and MMRS really planned to have the greatest match of all time? was the heat on this match really big going into it that they knew they had an opportunity to steal the show from Andre v. Hogan ? This was the first wrestling show I ever saw so i wasn't sure about the angles coming into it. Anyone who has any inside info or any educated guesses I'd love to hear anything about these two topics first.

It's funny I hear some people say they liked WM18 the best cause of Hogan v. Rock but obviously these folks werent fans at the time of WM3. The crowd, Gorilla and Jesse, The Brain , Vince with dark hair, Aretha, King Kong Bundy w/ midgets, Piper v. Adonis, the birth of Brutus the Barber (his only gimmick of 1,234,956 that worked), Bret Hart in his pre prime, Savage v. Steamboat, Alice Cooper, Bob Uecker, and Hogan and Andre in the stare down. Hands down you cant find a better card than all of that.

1) Nah, that was an angle to make Davis a heel. He cost both Santana and the Bulldogs thier belts.

2)No, you never really plan to have the "greatest match of all-time." Guys just go out there and give it there all. Fortunately Savage and Rickey were PERFECT that night and the results showed.

Wasn't it when Davis was a referee for a while that he cost them the titles?

Also, I wouldn't say that Savage/Steamboat is the greatest match of all-time.

It has been called that by some, at that certainly is their opinion that they're entitled to. The majority of the time, it's either referred to as: "the greatest W.M. match of all time" or "one of the greatest W.M. matches ever".

I think it was definitely an exciting match, and was good for telling the story. Most of the heat that was brought on to that match was from the storyline, and the build-up. It was a unique clash, with Savage being a real athlete and brawler - in addition to his somewhat lightweight style - and Steamboat being more the psychological guy. They both did a fine job of playing up the match, and made it a classic.

kayfabeman what would you say is the best match of all time and reason for, also maybe a list of a sort of top 5 off the top of your head to see where you draw your reasons from.

also speaking of great matches and WManias, is anyone else looking forward to the kurt angle v. shawn michaels wm21 match, i think it will be a top 5 match of all time before it even starts, it has me more excited for a wretlemania than i can remember for a long time, it will be worth whatever the ppv costs to me alone

Interesting note on Savage/Steamboat is that in a reasonably recent shoot interview I watched, Steamboat stated that Savage merticualously (sp?!!) planned the match in advance and that for weeks prior to the bout, on the road they would discuss and memorise the match move by move, to the point that every spot had a number and there were nearly 300 to memorise. In other words, the entire match was choreographed to blow everything else away (hence the sheer number of near-fall spots). Steamboat said the process bored the hell out of him and he prefered the method him and Flair shared (they just worked out their finish and went out and had a great match) but in heinsight he was really pleased with the bout.
