Problem installing two new games I bought

HP computer (under 2 years old now)
Windows XP

I haven't bought any games yet for the computer until last night. I puchased Sim City 4 and Halo Combat Evolved, both with are XP supported.

When I try to install Sim City 4, nothing happens. I put the disk into the CDROM and nothing happens at all. I attempt to go to the "run" thing but it freezes and I end up having the CNT ALT DEL and get out of it.

When I try to install Halo, it starts up. I have two opions; "install" and "express install." I have tried both. Doesn't matter which one I do, they both begin to install but as soon as it gets to the "creating game folders" it just stops. Doesn't necessarily freeze, but it just stays in that state and nothing happens. I left it run over night for 11 or 12 hours and I wokeup and nothing has changed.

I closed all other progams running (AIM, printer from startup). I also think I turned off my Zone Alarm.

Any idea what the problems might be? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you got Service Pack 2 Installed?

I'm not really aware of what Service Pack 2 is... so I don't know. I will try a google search on it though.

I have B&W and it worked when I first installed it 2 years ago on my Windows XP and now,after my pc being cleared,I cant reinstall it.
