The WWE needs to go online.

I don't mean as in get a website, but they need to hit the net. See what people are saying, and get in touch with more of their audience.

That's not to say they should stark booking like smarks. However, you can look at someone's reactions without booking according to a given individual or group.

Of course, this requires they actually WANT to improve their product, but it might be an easy way.

the major issue would be sifting through the negativity. The internet's not just about people who hate the WWE, hate Triple H, hate Lita, or whatever. A lot of people are critics: They praise the good and pan the bad. IT really doesn't take much of a critical eye to decide who's who. The guy who's typing WWE SUX every couple of threads is probably a little less reliable a source of pros and cons than the guy who says "You know, I loved Crhistian on Raw, but I could live without the Vis angle."

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Kane Knight again.

Stop making good posts asshole.

Yeah, it probably could work, but they'll never do it. Reason number one is Vince's ego. I seriously doubt that he could admit to himself that his ideas have run dry, and he needs input from the fans on wht is good or bad. Reason number two is Triple H, with him sitting in on creative meetings and such, and the fact he has spoken out many times against internet fans, it's not going to happen. Reason three is Ric Flair, as soon as a smark says, "Christian cut a good promo", Ric Flair will get the persons IP, and send them a never ending line of spyware or something.

Bottom line, getting feedback would be a great idea, and I think would seriously improve the situation. But we know it's not going to happen.

yea but unfortunately the WWE hates the internet

i've seen interviews with a few popular wrestlers (Undertaker for example) who say that internet fans don't know what they are talking about and their ideas of improving the product are laughable. Then we have Brock Lesnar (one of WWE's top guy at the time) who was going to murder wrestlers who DO think the net is a reliable source of information.

It pays to be open minded but from what I know about the WWE (which isn't that much really) they will never look to the internet for answers.

Exactly, because we all know the deadman gimmick is so great for improving the product.

Well what UT said wasn't bad. It's true, some internet fans do say some weird shit. There's always some net cult that'll say put the show around Paul London or something...and it'll be a laugh. However, like KK said...there's the ones who give the pros/cons, and reasons why...those are the ones to listen to.

I mean just to get a glimpse of what some of their fans think via online is a thing that won't hurt them. Totally ignoring and totally listening to the net fans won't get them anywhere.

Or the American Badass. Or any incarnation of the squashmaster.

But he's partially right. Most of the ideas on the net are asinine. Then again, the input of professional wrestlers such as Calloway and LaVesque haven't benefitted the business either.

So while he's partially correct, he's also a pot calling the kettle back.

Having chat rooms and hitting the net are largely different. The former falls under the aforementioned:

Reminds me of a story:

Near the end of the WCW's run, Turner commisioned a hue, expenisve, months long survey to try to find out why their product was failing. They contacted current fans and fans who had turned off the shows to see what exactly it is they wanted. The fans responded and an overwhelming majority said they wanted less gimmicks like "viagra on a pole" and "pregnancy angles" and "celebrity cameos" and whatnot and basically wanted a return to fundamental wrestling and pushing the best athletes on the roster.

Vince Russo, head booker at the time, saw the reams and reams of data, and immmediately rejeced it totally.

My point: It doesn't mater how valid or well-thought out the responses are if the people in charge aren't rceptive enough to listen.

This is a good idea, but it would require a major shift in attitude for it to happen. So, maybe someday, but not now.

Well of course, viagra on a pole is just fucking stupid. Celebrity cameos are always a snooze and no one really gives a shit...if people cared they can switch to E! or those Celeb shows. I want to see storyline and people throwing good matches.

Kane, I was being sarcastic.
The people on the WWE chat room are obviously idiots.
It has to be where the WWE writers get their ideas, from the collective idiot pool because I refuse to believe that that many stupid people can work for the same company and be in business as long as the WWE has.

So I am guessing that how they come up with these stupid ideas is they go around to say, homeless people in subways who know nothing about wrestling, and ask them to write storylines on a piece of paper and proceed to use them to play their own version of wrestling scenes from a hat.

I just can NOT, for the life of me, figure out how they can keep coming up with the stupid stuff that they do. The stupid idea pool has to be getting shallow they have pulled from it so much. Worse yet, they come up with stupid ideas and keep using them no matter how many fans say they are stupid.

There has to be some idiot working for them in sales that doesn't realize that an event sold out because the people actually wanted to see Christian take on Triple H (or something, sorry, that was the best I could at the moment) rather than the lingerie pillow fight. I am sure crap like that makes parents really embarassed/uncomfortable taking their 8 year old to see wrestling live.

Do you actually believe that Taboo Tuseday was "the will of the people?"

Especially given the limited choices?

The record industry has done this for years with "viewer's choice" shows like TRL. They pick a top ten out of votes for like 13 videos. Writeins are worthless, and weren't even an option for TT. They staged a few options, and we voted for whichever one of their options we wanted, and they probably STILL didn't use legit results. See also: WWE.com polls, Diva Search results, Tuff Enuff (Or however the fuck you spell that shit).

But....but....
I just don't get it.
How do these people get so much negative rep in just a few posts.
Can they really just be that stupid?

Maybe, to put his "newness" (translated: stupidity) to good use we could get him a job as one of those WWE writers. I am sure he will fit right in.

I have to think that somewhere, the WWE has someone that lurks aorund the more popular wrestling sites to see what reactions there is to the current product. I also believe that his or her findings are completely ignored. I firmly believe this, because it would mean money wasted by the WWE, I can't see them missing this money losing seneario.

Maybe we should all flood them with mails asking them to read the TPWW forums. Then they'll have NO other choice....

They had to limit choices to a list that made booking sense. That way fans (marks, especially) couldn't totally fuck things up.

They had to have some idea where the show was going. They should listen to the fans, but not put us in charge.

They had almost total control.

You make it sound like it's that or anarchy.

Almost! But not full! i mea nthey obviously tried to push peoples votes in one direction. The IC match poll fucked up for them cos they quite obviously wanted Batista but Benjamin won. But props to them for going with the 'fans' by putting the title on him.

The rest was shit though! I mean Chain, chair, or lead pipe??? Choices, choices, choices! I mean seriously...a chair??? Most matches involve a chair anyway? Lead pipe? Meh!

HBK, Edge or Benoit? No brainer!

Still good to mix things up a little huh?

WWE runs the show, and so they should.

I remember a lot of people online were talking about, before the choices were given, who should fight for the title. Very rarely did a name come up that made any booking sense. Sure, a lot of guys could be good choices, but only after a feud for the strap. Ditto for the IC title match. I know that I didn't want to see some random guy chosen to fight somebody they weren't feuding with.

They gave us choices that made good booking sense, and allowed us to pick the best one. A "choose your own adventure" type of deal, if you will. That was much better than giving us a random list of half the roster or something.

EDIT: Exactly X-L. They obviously wanted Batista, and it never happened.

Just like the Diva Search. Everyone says that was rigged...if it were, we'd be obviously seeing Carmella every Monday night.
