Help with Spyware messages

Basically, we recently wiped our computer completely because of a couple of problems we were having: spyware messages constantly popping up, the computer shutting down by itself, iTunes not working etc. So now that we've started it up again, we're still getting the messages. I don't know if this has been addressed on the forum already but I was wondering if anyone had advice to give me to get rid of them. If theres already a topic relating to this, can someone please link me to it? Thanx

What are you using to get the messages? There are internet pop ups that say "Spyware has been detected" etc but that is just an advertisement, not an actual problem. If you don't have a spyware removal program, I suggest Ad-Aware SE. I would also suggest you start using Mozilla Firefox as your primary internet browser.
