Is it possible?

At this point in time, even given intense funding and say a wonderful Prime Time television slot, would it be possible for a promotion to start giving WWE a run for their money? When WCW started to gain traction it was because they were picking up all the talent WWE could no longer aford or felt no longer drew in money. I mean before Hogan, Savage, and Lugar showed up on Turner's shit, they really didn't have much other then Flair.

So my point still stands, is it even possible right now for any promotion to gain enough steam to give WWE a credible run for their money. The only "Big Name" wrestlers who arn't signed into a WWE contract in one way or another would be Rock (busy doing movies) and to a much lesser extent Lesnar and Goldberg (Lesnar couldn't even capatolize due to him signing a stupid contract). If we look at the number 2 promotion in North America right now, it's TNA, and they certainly couldn't touch WWE even with a new time slot and a HUGE money increase.

So what would it take to get a rival company to compete on WWE's level? History has shown time and time again that hyping Cruiserweights only or hyping hardcore wrestling only won't get you over. And with two brands WWE is soaking up every talented (sans a handful don't bother telling me who) wrestler on the scene today. This is more or less my depressing way or completly surrendering to the rule that is WWE. Here's to a good long while of uninspired wrestling.

Its possible, but its not possible.

If a billionaire came around and he had access to a great TV timeslot and had tons of money to throw around, sure another promotion could compete with Vince.

There are enough guys out there with name value that could get people talking. Goldberg, Lesnar, Hogan, Foley, Sting and Rock could all get together and that would be enough to get people talking.

You put all those guys on TV working with and against each other, and you'd have enough to do at least 12-18 months worth of angles.

The problem is the odds of all that happening is like a trillion to one. First you need the guy with money and access to TV, then you need those stars to be willing to do wrestling on a somewhat consistant basis.

So no, its not going to happen, but it could.

Well this new rich promotion might offer the Angles, Rocks, Austins, etc. ridicualous amounts of money to jump ship. This is what WCW did. It's not like they didn't go after guys the then WWF had.

It's possible that all the particles in yoru body will suddenly turn into Jell-O pudding.

However, the odds of both are stacked against.

You're so horribly misinformed about your WCW facts that I don't really feel like answering.

I think it is possible, should a guy be able to come around with a lot of money, good television times, good wrestling, and the ability to get some big names in.

If they signed Kevin Nash, Bobby Heenan and Mean Gene Okerlund to be commentators, got Paul Heyman and Vince Russo as writing supervisors, got some talent like Mick Foley and The Rock to do appearances, etc. and you have yourself a company that's worth watching, even if it does fizzle out.

But like The CyNick said. Chances are pretty slim.
