We need stable wars damnit!
Everyone knows that there are a ton of things missing or wrong with the current WWE product. Mainly bad writing, HHH, and a botching ho bag. But, after watching some old wrestling videos I noticed that a big thing that made the late 90's so much fun to watch were the stable wars.
NWO vs WCW DX vs The Nation (when The Rock was the leader) The Corporate Ministry vs The rest of the WWF etc. The parodies DX did of the Nation and the Corporation were gold (imagine that, an entertaining promo involving HHH). I miss seeing the stables interfere in each others matches, and the end result being a big showdown between the two groups at a PPV. Evolution was always like, the entire stable vs whoever was challenging HHH for the title. Jericho, Benoit, Shelton, and HBK should of formed a stable and war'd with Evolution. Anyway, yeah, I thought I would mention something that not a lot of people mention, yet it was a crucial part to the Attitude era. ![]() |

I tend to disagree...
Stable wars ARE enjoyable, but there are several problems. One at the end of it usually only one person has bettered out of the entire group. Two, the people you mentioned to form together are all Main Eventers...stables are used to take 3 or 4 people's collective overness and charisma and turn it into one so that low mid card wrestlers have a chance to shine and be seen as popular. Three, at this point I don't think WWE is mentally capable of comming up with a new original group, let alone a whole pack of them. I mean JBL's lackies are enjoyable, and Evolution was for a while (only because it had similar mentality that the Horsemen did), but if they went back to stable wars you would probably see direct rip offs of DX, Anti-American BS, some more racist groups, and then maybe one that was going to take over everything...it was a time, in my opinion we should let it pass...but what the hell lets see what everyone else has to say about it. |

You make very good points. I was thinking have the main eventers tied up in something so other people that may not get used too often, had a spot on a Raw card to see if they may possibly get over. But yes this is the WWE were talking about. And with the recent surge of gimmicks being reused, I totally see your point about direct rip-off's.

I agree with the fact that stable wars are extremely entertaining and probably one of my favorite things to watch over the years but I'm just not sure that with the current product that it would actually work. So many stable gimmicks have been done first off, and the last thing anybody wants to see is a rehashed version of a stable from the classic or attitude eras. Also, nowadays just about every single singles WWE wrestler has their own cult following of fans that get pissed and complain whenever the guy loses a match or is put in a position where someone is going to look better than him.
As far as what The One was saying, I completely disgree with the fact that one guy always ends up looking better than the other. When DX split, HBK who was already a multiple time champion "went into retirement" and HH went went on to become a 10 time World Heavyweight Champion. Also, Evolution broke up not too long ago and now EVERY MEMBER has had a reign as World Heavywieght Champion. I'm not against creating stables, but as far as creating new fresh ideas that the audience won't hate... I just don't have that much faith in the WWE writers anymore. Sorry... |

I say let it lie. Why? Because it will be hard to find original concepts that will not look like halfassed attempts to reform one of the major stables. There will never be another Hart Foundation, NoD, nWo, DX, 4 Horsemen, etc. You need to take multiple group concepts that are not only wrestling oriented, but have a level of appeal. Then you have to find one that would not just be DX-Lite. Because that wouldn't really get peoples' attention. That aside, we run into another problem: On Raw, this would conflict with Triple H, and any such resulting stable would be squashed, destroying a lot of the collective over-ness. On Smackdown, it might work to some level, given the current "Cabinet." However, I do not believe that the environment is exactly right on either show (Especially Raw, but Smackdown's got its share of reasons). That's more of an aside issue, the primary one being more important. You see, if we keep looking to the past for answers, we solve nothing. If they had done that in the Attitude Era, Austin would have been drinking milk and telling kids to say their prayers, taker their vitamins, and so on. I also think the current roster shape is an issue, but not as big of one. |

By the way, I was there when Angle brought out the milk truck. It wasn't even milk... I was pissed.

The WWF Vs WCW/ECW had the potential to be an excellent stable war if they had carried it on for longer, instead of just ending it in one night with no mention of it again after Survivor Series 2001!

Actually I think it's just cause WWE didn't push him the same way ECW did, so somehow marks have confused WWE's promtion with the actual name. ![]() |

You know what I wanna see? A Revolution stable led by Doug Basham, with Johnny Jeter, Matt Cappotelli and Johnny Spade (is he still in OVW?) as members.

How about a goth group? I don't mean a Satanic group like the Ministry of Darkness or The Brood (although The Brood was less Satanic). I mean a group of Goths. Call them something like Gothica (or Gothika) and they would all be wearing the chains, leather pants, long black pleather coats, white make-up and heavy eye shadow and big "fuck off" boots.
Also, get one of the Divas in there, maybe Lita. She's already a punk rocker type, not too much of a stretch to see her gothed up. Maybe her and Edge could lead the group, with some up and comers from OVW or something. Maybe even bring back Jeff Hardy (same deal as Lita). Viscera maybe? I'd say Gangrel when he comes back but then it's too Brood-ish. I don't know, I'm just throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks. |

Not a bad idea with the goth thing. Have Gangrel bring in some new tag team, and have them dress completely in black. I dunno, maybe Kevin Fertig and CM Punk could do something like this? Give them Joy Giovanni as a valet.
