Wireless Controllers...

With all of the next-gen consoles having wireless controllers, there better be rechargers. They can't seriously believe that we're going to replace the batteries every time they run out. I don't care if they last 600 hours on one double A battery, there better be some way to recharge them.

So, has anything been said about rechargeable controllers?

On a semi-related note, how long do Wavebirds last on one set of batteries?

I'm with you on this. Reason I got my Gameboy SP was because I was tired of wasting money on batteries for my GBA. Which I still have and still plays beautifly.

Regarding the XBox 360, it's been said that the only wire's for charging. So apparently it's not a dock (meaning you can play while it charges).

Regarding Sony, no clue.

Regarding the Wavebird, I can go months on end without replacing mine...My P2 controller had the stock batteries in it when I had to replace them last month. Those things are Hella efficient.

It's unfortunate however that the Wavebird docking stations weren't that popular. I still wouldn't mind using a charger over buying batteries, and I hate using a seperate recharger if I can avoid it.

Sony might be able to get away with battery-powered controllers that don't recharge, because people will blindly follow them like lemmings. Just look at the people who think that the Sony PS2 is superiod HARDWARE (I think it has the superior titles, but that's a different story). However, I doubt they'd be foolish enough to do that.

A side note...Has vibration/rumble tech been confirmed or commented upon? Because that would eat up the batteries faster. Lots faster. Even on something as efficient as a Waverbird.

I'm not entirely sure what to think of this new trend in technology. On the one hand, wireless controllers are great and all, and this will be the first wireless Sony brand controller I can name, but they're more expensive and I've always found PS2 controllers to be kinda chincey. However you spell that. Cheap (Chin-see) controllers. While my two wired and two wireless Nintendo controllers have lasted me since I got it, I've burned through a lot of PS2 controllers. Granted, one of my Wavebirds is pretty new and has not seen a lot of action compared...That aside, the issue of the cost of replacing them is only one thought I have on the subject. I nterference is the other. Unless there is a wired alternative, some people will have gross difficult playing. This is a big fucking deal here. Larger than broadband only requirements for the XBox live, which didn't affect offline play.
