How would one go about becoming a manager?
...Like for wrestlers. I've always wondered how people got into that. I've been an actor for 5 years and I honestly think I could get alot of guys over. I wonder what I'd have to do.

I'm not completley sure but i'm preety sure you still have to go to a wrestling school and they will train you. The school around me trains ppl for wrestling and managers 1600 dollars to be a wrestler only 800 for managers so i hope that helped you at all.

yeah, you have to be fully trained as a professional wrestler first, all the old guys like Heenan, Fuji, hart all were wrestlers before hand

You need to find a wrestling school. You go through all the training that wrestlers go through. Then once you're done you usually get someone bigger then you who can't do mic work well and you start to manage him. It's real fun. When I was a manager for a while in NWA-Rocky Mountain. I was still veru injured and couldn't really move well, but I managed a friend of mine who always struggled on the stick.

The easiest way is to just walk up to a wrestler and ask if your services are needed/wanted

Only pussies become managers without wrestling first. Almost every manager was a wrestler beforehand so it looks like you will have to actually go to school and learn how to wrestle first which I don't think you can do.

But then again, if The One can become a wrestler...anyone can. Hell, I am a better athlete then him and I am in acting as well. So I know I could very easily become a wrestler if I want. I've got the body, the looks, I never get stage fright and I have the mic skills and creative skills.

I just rather not get involved in a fake sport. And I can't fake fighting. I'd be very fucking stiff. I'll stick with football.

Yeah. Everyone's hit on it so far. You have to go to school, and they will run you though almost all the same stuff as everyone else. The only lucky thing about being a manager is that you don't have to be fantastic at everything like a wrestler does. You will need to know all the basics and shit, because 9 out of 10 male managers are heels and will be bumped quite often. You may also need to do an occasional match [usually a tag deal].

It'll be a good experience; especially if you are a good mouthpiece.

I've always been good with micwork, I just wasn't built to be a wrestler. I'm built a little slimmer than Edge and I'm not taking steroids. lol. I've always wanted to manage though. I think I may look into it.

Dude, you and everyone else.

Wrestling fans want so badly to break into the business.

That's why the WWE had so many seasons of "Tough Enough."

But about 40% of those fans are too scared to actually become wrestlers, so anyone who takes a theater class thinks they can get into the business by becoming managers, not realizing that all the legendary managers were wrestlers themselves once.

And before you mention Jimmy Hart [if you even know who that is]....he was an athlete before he got into the business and played various other sports. And yes, he too had to learn how to wrestle and did wrestle.

But the fact of the matter is, you need to stick to just being a fan. Because believe me, becoming a manager in wrestling is harder then you think.

You may be able to get into some teenager's backyard fed or some half-ass Indy organization where ten whole people show up just to laugh at you just like The One did, but that's it.

Hell, his "career-ending injury" was nothing compared to the injuries the pros suffer from and they STILL wrestle. He quit because he is a weak person and wasn't "tough enough." So what makes you think you can do any better?

In the end, you'll end up with broken bones, bad memories, lots of hatred, bitterness and jealousy towards the business and it's competitors.

And you'll be laughed at by girls when you tell them you had a job in a fake sport.

And instead of enjoying a wrestling match on TV, you'll be sitting there in your mobile home, fantasizing that you are the one doing the wrestling.

So yeah, for you sake......stick to being a fan.

And you're right, I am a shitty actor, that's why I am in Yale Drama Department. Cause that's a sinch to get into. And what Indy films have you been in good sir? As a matter of fact I am VERY interested becuase I have on my resume about 20 credited roles in various films along with live theatre works from around this country.

Don't get me wrong, my cousin goes there and I love her dearly, but the fact is going there will never get you an ounce of respect from me. Hey One and Dave Youell- what type of wrestlers are(were) you? I think in another thread, Mr Youell, you stated that you used a TKO as a finish? What did you use as a finish One? Just curious, I 've always been interested in indy wrestling.

I wouldn't really say I have a style, I know I can't do high flying anymore, but apart from that I've worked all other styles, so whatever is needed on the night I guess.
