Exclamation Well there goes WGN.

Quote:
As of now, please take the following only as a rumor:

According to the Wrestling 365 Newsletter, the newly signed deal between NWA-TNA and WGN might have fallen through.

The deal was supposed to be officially announced to the public tomorrow but according to reports, Dixie Carter has done something that prevented the contract from being signed. There is still a strong possibility that deal will be signed and announced soon, but word making the rounds is that the deal is off.

TNA has not informed any of its talent about the WGN deal being off. The good news is that TNA left Fox Sports Net on good terms and may be able to resign with the network.

Hopefully this matter will be resolved within the next day or two, but as it stands TNA has no TV outlet aside from pay-per-view.

We’re ardently looking for further confirmation on this news. Stay tuned. credit: Observer

He along with Bob Carter, Jerry Jarrett, Bob Ryder, Tim Welch, Bill Banks, Hector Melendez make up the Administration for TNA. If I recall correctly, Dixie is actually the President of the company. Keep in mind that Jerry is Owner and Jeff Jarrett is president of Jarrett Entertainment, which in turn owns TNA, so as best as I have been able to figure he seems to be about 3rd down the ladder in matters of being the big dog in the back.

Bob Ryder has zero power and Jerry Jarrett's is extremely limited now. And Panda Energy own TNA, not the Jarrett's.

If they go to WGN yeah its good but not great. They will fall on their face on WGN. If they get on Spike TV officially count them as a legit contender.

I enjoy TNA but without Spike TV or Fox they are never going to do anything. They need something major to kickstart everything.

That'll happen no matter what channel they're on, so I'd rather have the capacity to see if they ARE putting on a good product.

I heard that they were using WGN as leverage to strike a deal with Spike. Maybe that's why, I dunno. But like mentioned, Meltzer hasn't reported it, so it's probably not true.

Primetime does not have that much rep yet (10+)
As many problems as there are in TNA at the moment (debt, not many well known big draws, politics) I still really hope they land some primetime deal, heh primetime.....Anyway back to the point; competition is competition, even weak competition can make things more enjoyable. Bottome line, i really want an alternative, i want to go back to the old times where i could flip back and forth between shows, even if its to see an X-Division match over a HHH promo.

From the Office of Dave Nelson.

THE NELSON CORPORATION AND PARTNERS PULL TNA OFFER

As of Noon on May 31, 2005, the offer to purchase TNA Wrestling from Panda has been withdrawn. The 10 Million dollar offer has been retracted as the deadline has passed and no response was given. We feel that more then adequate time was given for Panda Energy to respond and at this time will move forward with the start of a new Wrestling Company to kick off in early Fall of this year.
We recognize the fact that TNA has lost the deal with WGN and currently has no Television Deal to carry the company except for the Pay Per Views they do monthly which do not clear enough revenue to keep the company afloat.
We are aware that there could be a possible deal with Spike down the road, but with the current deal that was in the works with Spike it would not benefit the company in a long term Network deal, and it would prove fatal to TNA to make a deal that is contingent on ratings.
We do wish TNA the very best and hope that there will be a light at the end of the tunnel, but it would appear that TNA has a rough road ahead.
Now on the NWA Ohio side, we will move forward in the next few months with the announcement of the next big company, and will at that time disclose the names of the two wrestling figures backing Dave Nelson and his venture to build yet another Federation here in North America, and open a new avenue for professional wrestling today. Together with Old School and new age wrestling, we will design a product that offers the best of both worlds, tradition and Extreme wrestling, offering good story lines, and well maintained Events that come to small towns and big cities alike, to bring the fans a show that gets up close and personal like no other company has yet to offer.
A new beginning, and a Fresh product for the people who matter most, YOU THE FANS.....

Thank you, Dave Nelson, CEO

I'm still not believing it yet.

TNA were not using WGN to leverage with Spike, that started at speculation on a radio show that was based on something other than fact. TNA and WGN have pretty much had the deal done for the last two weeks, and even though Spike kept contact with TNA, TNA was finalising this deal, and I find it hard to believe it has fallen apart and everybody BUT the two main websites don't know this.

About this whole shitty NWA Ohio / people wasting money on wrestling deal - one of the rumored names to be involved as a backer and/or person of some type of power in the company is "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan. Nothing is really confirmed, and everyone on their end seems as confused about what is going on as everyone at NWA-TNA does.

TNA has no idea about their TV, either with WGN or FSN - EVEN NOW - just days out from their PPV, and what would be their next TV taping(s) or a live episode. Seems to me they need to figure out a direction quickly, because bad enough not many are out there watching as it is, but if you lose TV, you have NO WAY to promote PPV's - which would make them absolutely senseless / pointless [not that they're not now].

Meh...

I still don't believe TNA should try to put itself on the same time that RAW is on just yet. They need a better slot on Fox Sports Net though. I mean... 4PM on Fridays? That's getting TiVoed/VCR Timered.

Better to have 4pm on Fridays every week for free over 8pm every month for $30.

I think TNA is dead. If they have no TV deal... they should just make Slammiversary their last show and cut their losses at 20 million or whatever the count is at now..

NWA Ohio's Dave Nelson posted on his website today that his group has pulled out of talks with TNA about buying the company. According to Nelson, TNA has "lost" their TV deal with WGN and that the deal being discussed with Spike TV would not benefit the company overall.

Nelson added that he will be starting his own new wrestling company this fall.

The feeling inside TNA is that nobody ever really took Nelson seriously, especially when he started posting negotiation updates on his website.

It also appears that TNA is still in talks with WGN about a TV deal, although it is taking longer than expected to iron out. Word is that the deal has a lot of negatives for TNA but that the promotion is hoping to finalize it next week anyway.
