Does anybody else think twice when you hear that NU has one of the top academic ratings in college football? Along with Notre Dame...Nebraska's admissions standards are like those of a community college, but they happen to have so many Academic All-Americans and one of the top college football programs ever? Just one of those things where you have to assume something wrong is going on. Its Nebraska for gods sake.

Well I heard that people turn down scholarships and a chance to play at a divison 2 school so they can walk on at Nebraska and never see the field.

The Huskers are the Cincinnati Bearcats or Oklahoma Sooners (basketball) of college football.

I may not be exactly dead on with this but I don't think Notre Dame is too easy to get into.

Notre Dame = Very hard to get into
Nebraska = Anybody can get into It it not a little odd when those are the top two schools in terms of total academic All-Americans? |

Well if it's so easy to get into, then its probably a real easy school to get good grades at. So that translates into Academic All Americans.

I don't know. I think it would be better if the whole Academic All-American thing could be judged in a different way. Tough to do though because obviously the difficulty is going to vary from school to school. |

Well to me it makes sense that Notre Dame would have a lot of Academic All-Americans, because to even go to that school you need to be pretty damn smart. I'm just saying that for a school like Nebraska, with very little academic prestige, it just seems kind of fishy that they would happen to have a bunch of really smart football players.
I'm not entirely sure how Academic All-American status works, but I thought it was if you play on a team and get a certain GPA. If that is the case, I would assume that like Yale and Harvard and all those schools would be filled with them. Is it based purely on academics? |

I have no idea, but thats what I think would be most logical. Your point about the high academic requirements makes a lot of sense in the fact there would be plenty of Academic All-Americans. I'm not sure if every school's standards are different, but I highly doubt it because I would think that this distinction is from the NCAA rather than an individual school.
78 Football All-Americans at Nebraska is like the whole fucking team. I find that to probably be a load of bullshit. I'm not sure how they can get those kind of numbers because I doubt Nebraska is as hard as the upper echelon of tough academic schools. |

78 all time though, not a single year. But it is still surprising that Nebraska of all schools would have the most of anybody.

Oh, okay. I thought that was a ridiculous number for a year. Thanks for clearing that up, but even then it still seems high.
