I think they may stop it now. But think of how much heat he probably got from the people watching at home, I dunno maybe WWE will continue it.

I can see why people would be offended, but honestly. Shut the fuck up. The gimmick isn't hurting anyone. Controversial shit is done all the time. If they go along with this, good for them. Seriously ! The gimmick is set up to have a hero. Its going to play out for about a year or so maybe even less. The a " Hero " will step up and beat him. Then the insuing face turn will happen. Then this gimmick will be forgotten. Movies, TV shows , book . They all are set up the same way. I dont see why the WWE is any different from them?

I love the fact that everyone is liking Hassans gimmick and seeing past its tongue in cheek nature , involving Arabic terrorism inuendo . Even while troops from different countries ( not just American ) are being bombed and shot at and dying. No we can look past all that shit, but when London get bombed. HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE! THIS GIMMICK IS FUCKING TASTELESS! Gimme a break.

If you were on the Hassans bandwagon. Sorry . Nuh uh. There is no getting off now. You liked it after 9-11, you liked it after Sadam was captures cause you felt it was a little safer now and it wasnt that bad. Now London gets bombed and you want off. Now all of a sudden its tasteless. Sorry. Thats not a good enough reason to pull the gimmick. If Vince pulls this gimmick. Vince McMahon will be nothing but a punk bitch. The gimmick has a foundation, he is an Arab-American that feels he is being discriminated.

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TERRORISTS, Fucking idiots who say it does.

The only thing close to "Terrorist" about this gimmick is The complaining of Hassan for being treated bad after a terrorist attack and the Crowd thinking Arabian is the same as a Terrorist, then booing because of that.

For the record, I do and always have liked the gimmick of Hassan.

I rewatched Smackdown (taped it) and the show cut to commercial when "the winner of the match, the Undertaker!", with Hassan with an evil grin on his face.

I want to see what the big deal is now, I don't care if something COULD offend me, I want to watch it.

Smackdown is on Cable, CABLE, it shouldn't be censored

anyway, it doesn't sound bad, Hassan has his own following (I.e. Mattitude/Ministry/Corporation etc), but because he's portrayed as Arabian...

EDIT: Okay, I just saw a clip on WWE.com, I see where the whole "terrorist" thing is going, but it's a state of mind, people look at them, see Hassan as Arabian and say any Group Hassan has are Terrorists, however I see them as his followers, they believe what he is saying and want to join his fight against the people that don't like him.

Those men aren't Terrorists, unless you class a Terrorist as somebody that doesn't like somebody and fights them... goes around to cause mass panic and chaos... hell the NWO could be classed as Terrorists.

When they did the whole Sargent Slaughter/Turncoat/Gulf War angle I thought it was inappropriate, but given Hogan was involved there was that element of Cheese that seemed to make it not so bad. Granted I'm older than most and Canadian so that could be the reason.

The line they are towing now seems a little much. Will the poor publicity the WWE receives make any difference to the bottom line on a business level. I highly doubt it. I doubt it will be seen as a cool thing by the kids. If it will not increase profits (which is the be all, end all) why continue? I can see advertisers being very nervous about this angle.

Keep in mind that the band 50 foot wave was accused of cashing in on the uber-Tsunami in Asia. 50 Foot Wave's release was as ill-timed as POD's Satellite, but it was their second record, and they'd been around for well over a year (Not to mention it has to do with harmonics, not the ocean).

Now, if people can blame a band that's been around for over a year, they can sure as fuck blame a show that was taped 3 days prior. They may not have known it was coming, but they're gonna get the blame as though they did.

Of course the Hassan character will keep going. They have come this far and I doubt they will just drop him just like taht. I can't really see them dropping their second biggest heel on Smackdown (in my view that's what he is anyway just behind Eddie).

In my case, no.

And I lost a friend on 9-11, so hopefully none of the PC fucks who are complaining in the Henchmen thread will accuse me of being insensitive. Not to mention I spent half of yesterday trying to get in touch with friends in London (Fortunately, they [business partners] were in Berlin), so it's not like I don't care about that either.

I just don't see this as any more tasteless than the overall gimmick itself, and I've come to accept that. So how could I complain about yet another thing that's only about as tasteless? While La Res demeaned the troops, this didnt't directly insult anyone.

...Except Arabs, but who cares about them?

I think they'll half ways back out. They'll stick with it through the Taker feud, but drop it immediately afterwards. Michael Cole and Tazz never mentioned the word "terrorist" once, though they could have redubbed it Thursday morning...I can just imagine Michael Cole screaming "Hassan's brought TERRORISTS to the ring! Tazz, this is horrible. Now that terrorist is choking Taker with his Hijacking Wire! Oh no! Hassan's got Taker with his 9-11 lock!"

They can still back out of it by saying that the only way to beat Taker is to play the same psychological games on him as he plays on everyone else. It's already been established before with other guys, and Taker's gimmick is pushed more as a psychological one than a hackneed rehash of his 90's gimmick....well, most of the time.

The problem lies with coming out with Hassan's plans. If he cut a promo saying, "No, I'm not involved with terrorists. I just want to get in Taker's mind." it seems kinda stupid because it'd be on the same level as Taker saying, "Gee, golly...I never meant to look scary with my hat and belt buckle. I just wanted to freak out my opponents." But I guess that's the WWE's problem. They're the idiots who tried to make Thursday's Smackdown look like a Russo rip-off, not me.
