Will Hogan pull out his dick?
In the July/August edition of Sly Magazine, Hulk Hogan offered some candid words on fellow wrestlers The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

On the subject of his movie career, Hogan explained that he's actually more successful than The Rock:

"Compared to the success that Brad Pitt or Arnold Schwarzenegger have had, people probably thought I had a run of B movies that sucked. But those movies were cheap to make and they generated a lot of revenue. If you watch what my movies made against what The Rock's movies are doing now, taking into account changing ticket prices and how many more theaters his movies were shown in, I still generated more revenue than he did."

While Hogan believes a match with Steve Austin could do big business, he's not sure if the two click enough to perform the match. He also had some less-than-flattering words for those under the impression that Austin is a star of his caliber:

"Austin has been in the business about 18 years and he was on top for four. I wrestled main events for 25 years. I could pull my dick out and I might be on top for four years - it's called 'cheap heat.' Somebody who stays on top 25 years has to have more than that. It has to be in your spirit."

This is exactly the kind of shit I was talking about in The Answer's thread about resentment against Hogan. I suppose you could play with the numbers to make it seem like Hogan's movies turned a bigger profit, but how the fuck can he compare his B-movie career to The Rock's especially when Rock has Spy Hunter and Doom coming out, both which should be guaranteed huge monie makers? What an ego.

And then the Austin comments? With all of Flair's insanities, at last he occasionally manages to give credit to today's performers. This piece of shit never ever had the kind of buy-rates, ratings or merchandise sales that Austin had, even if it was for a shorter period of time.

It has really sickened me that Hogan has said this, though it hasnt surprised me.That's fine that he was on top for 25 years, but he should atleast give credit to the people that put him over, and not insult other wrestlers who have made just as big an impact as he did.The fact that he's still playing his wrestling gimmick on a reality tv show is really sad.

Hmm, I wasn't that pissed off about this. Kind of expected this.

I do think he is kind of right, though, in some way. Take a look at how much it costs to make a movie now as opposed to what it did during Hogan's time. They might've grossed some revenue, but how much PROFIT did they make?

And I think he is right about Austin, too. Yeah, Austin has been popular, but it had faded in recent memory. Hogan is, in some minds, a legend. Austin, while sparked the Attitude era (in my mind), hasn't been around at the top as long as Hogan has.

IMO, he may sound like a dick, but he could have a point.

As I mentioned in my earlier post - of the movies for which both budget and gross information were available - only 1/3 of Hogan's movies turned a profit, while 3/5 of the Rock's did. I didn't crunch the numbers on percent profit or anything, but that's a pretty big discrepancy.

I do indeed. Though I hate Austin both as a man (wife-beating crybaby) and as a performer (same old same old), I do prefer him to Hogan. At least when Austin refuses to do the right thing for business, he has the courtesy to leave the company to do it.

Also, the Rock is the main star in most of his movie. Where Hogan was the main star in a handful of his movie's. Also, some of Hogan's movie's where he was the star, i have never even heard of.

Yeah, I liked Hogan when I was a kid and could tolerate him now, but the thing about him is that he doesn't understand shit...

Austin was dropped on his head...on his head...Austin was dropped on his fucking HEAD! He broke his neck and had a few surgeries... THAT is probably the only reason that Austin isn't around anymore.

Hogan on the other hand hasn't had an injury that big since his leg was broken while he was in training ages ago.

I'm sorry, but Austin just doesn't sell merchandise, he draws as well, much like Hogan did back in the day, but he did it a lot better.

And yeah, I am talking about Austin, because when he was around, you saw nothing but what in the arenas being sold between 1997 and 2001? Stone Cold Steve Austin shirts. And thats not even counting the Stone Cold condoms.

Well, my mistake. Hogan having hip surgery slipped my mind.

If you want to talk about n00bs, don't even attempt to pin me as one. I've actually been lurking the tpww forums for years on end and have only been signed on as a forum member for about a year now. The only reason I signed up for the boards was because there was a poster stealing articles from different websites without giving credit and my friend and I wrote one of the articles for PWInsider and we were pissed for him not giving credit to us or anybody else that has written an article.

I'm only getting around to posting now. Deal with it, I'll post again at some point with or without your "n00b" approval.
