NWA Fanfest: My Experience (Updated Sept 17 with pics)
Okay, so the three day Fanfest affair has come and gone and I had a fucking blast. Definately worth the VIP passes I got. Just wanted to share a little about the event and my journey through it. I'll break it down by Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Day 1: Friday.

So I had to work all day Friday. lol. Fanfest started around 12:00. Now my internship that I was doing is selling advertising to all the local busineses for the UNC Charlotte Campus Directory. So I was out and about all day and wasn't in an office or anything. So that meant that I was going to be spending part of my time working and the other half at Fanfest.

So I got there at like 9 in the morning right after the morning work meeting to pick up my passes for VIP. This guy in front of me going down the escalator had to stop for a second to tie his shoes and I jumped in front of him. Why does that matter? You'll see later on. One of the first guys I see waiting on the line for my shit was that faggot Rob Feinstein. Some dude smacked his chest and he went WOOOOOOOO. I just shook my head and thought that if Rob Harvey was here he would of probably punched him.

So, They gave you a bracelet you had to wear to get into the VIP stuff and a VIP neckchain. They also gave me a program. Inside the program was a a few pictures of NWA guys and an autograph page for your autographs throughout Fanfest. Also, there was a number inside of it. Every program had a number in it and on Sat they would draw 2 numbers and if yours was the one they drew, you get to have lunch with Bret Hart. My number was 1108 Remember that number.

So after getting my shit, I went back to work until 2:00, the first autograph session. Now this was the first time I was actually walking into the Fanfest. There was two rooms. One was an exhibit room with all kinds of wrestking memorabilia all over the place; tapes, DVD's, Belts, Figures, Masks, Molly and Ivory taking photos and signing shit for thier company. Molly is really really hot in person and Ivory's boobs were falling out of her top. Highspots, RF Video and those guys were there.

In the other room was where the ring was for the matches on Sat, the autograph stage and the stage for the Q & A sessions. When I got there I went to the ehibit room first and just took everything in. There was TV's with wrestling footage playing all over the place and I was checking it out. Then as I was walking around the room, someone bumps into me from behind and it felt like a fucking brick wall just hit my shoulder. I was like "WTF" in my head and I turn and see who did that and it's OX Baxter. lol. Now if you've seen Ox before, you know I wasn't about to say shit cause he's one scarey Mother F'er. But he's a really nice guy in person and he's a great promo boy. He got on the stage and really got the crowd going. His voice will light up the room. The wresters do promos before they do polaroids with the fans, so that's why he did that.

After getting bum rushed by Ox, I went to get some autographs. The lineup was, Oliver Humperdink, Paul Jones, Mr. Wrestling 2, Ole, JJ, and OX. Only got a few cause I had to leave again for work. But it was awesome just going up there and seeing these guys up close. Met this cool guy while waiting to go up and we hung out a lot for the rest of the 3 days. He has a great Funk story to tell now, but that will be in my Sat. part and our adventures looking for Bret Hart Saturday night I will tell too.

After work ended, I went back for the three 1hr+ Q & A segments with Dillon, Funk and Cornette. I will post about the 3 sessions and my meeting Ole and Jones in the lobby that night later on tonight.

I was seated next to LC and we had a blast the whole time, making the most of boring waits in line. Saturday morning, down by the main rooms, I was at the water fountain getting a drink, when I rose up after my drink, Terry Funk is walking towards me eating an apple. He walks right the hell up to me and says,"What are you doing?!" Me - Er...just waiting for the fanfest to start. "What have you been up to?!" Me - Um, I ate breakfast a while ago....is that your breakfast? He started talking some more and wandered away in mid sentence. It was awesome and weird at the same time. LC wasn't there for it, but the whole time, we did the Funk impression, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO? I even did it to Funk when he was signing autographs at the table. He could have either killed me or laughed, and he laughed and said,"That's a pretty dad-gum impression there son." I even have one of my friends saying those 2 questions now. I guess you had to be there, but it was damned funny.

The other cool guy near us were doing our Dusty impressions to each other, GIMME 25 DOLLARS BABY! That fat ass told someone that in the lobby when they asked for an autograph. "Yeah, downstairs for 25 dollars." The huge load then left angry when nobody was buying his book, or paying him money to write his name on something. Good riddance.

AMW came off the elevator and right up to me and asked how to get to where the matches were. What am I, the damned information king?

I still regret not paying 10 bucks to get a picture with Heenan. I thought I could have gotten him in the lobby like I got everyone else, but I guess him and Bret came through some super secret entrance.

Speaking of Bret, LC and I played the Bret game Saturday night after the matches. Basically wandering through a crowded lobby, outside and back in, and up and down the escalator screaming,"BRET!" To see how many people would turn their heads, or come running thinking the Hitman was there. We did it downstairs where nobody was, and we turned around, and some jackass came running out of nowhere looking for Bret. Like I said, we came up with fun ways to fight the boredom.

The fanfest was cool though, I have been to all of them, and this one was probably the best yet.

The Bret Hart mark was the biggest loser ever, basically walking around the whole weekend in a Hart Foundation leather jacket, with Bret's shades on the top of his head, and wearing or carrying a world belt or something. He kept yelling at Bret with asinine comments during Bret's signing. I just looked at the dude and said, "How old are you?" He had to be mid 20's or older.

LOL @ all this stuff. Good times. Remember when I took a photograph of Bret and faked signed his signature, then we started walking around with it in the crowded lobby and people thought he was really outside signing autogrpahs The Bret Hart marks expression was priceless when he saw the autograph. "WHAAAAA, HE'S OUTSIDE!!!!!!"

When you left, the Bret mark guy sat in the front row like right in the center, so he was exactly in fron of Bret for the Q&A. And he kept going "You da man Bret, we love you Bret, Amen Bret" during the whole Q & A. jackoff

I still walk around saying "what are you doing?...what have you been up to?" all the time to people in the voice

These two guys we dubbed "E" and "Bay" had like 40 classic figures of every guy and they would get the guys to sign all thier fucking figures. They went up to Funk with like a Three bags full of Funk figures and had him sign a ton of them. It was ridiculous.

Oh yeah, E and Bay! Who purchased a 100 buck ticket so they could sit in the fucking lobby the entire weekend getting everyone to sign their 900000000 items they had. They said it was for their collection, yeah sure. They had like 100 pics of everyone, and when they dropped like 10000 Terry Funk figures for him to sign, I about fell on the floor.

The fake Bret autograph was good stuff too. We were almost crying from laughing so hard at us being assholes.

I am still kicking myself for not spending my last 10 bucks I had on me to get a pic with Heenan.

I would have punched that Bret Hart guy in the back of the head, or moved to the other end of the room. How many questions did he ask? 50?
