CTU hires a Hobbit

From AICN.com

http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=21095

Fat Hobbit Joins The
Counter Terrorism Unit!!

I am – Hercules!!

Is this more or less exciting than Carrie Fisher joining “Smallville”? You tell me!

Sean Astin - who was in “Goonies” I’m told and I believe played a goblin (I want to say Bilbo?) in one of those popular “Lord of the Ring” movies set in Lower Earth - has taken a TV job. He’ll play a member of CTU on “24.” Maybe the head of it? Because Jack Bauer can’t be the head of it; the last time we saw Bauer he was a fugitive from Chinese justice.

Anyway, the fifth season of “24” will kick off much the same as the fourth. We’ll get two hours on Jan. 8 and another two on Jan. 9. Dennis Haysbert is busy with the new David Mamet hourlong on CBS so don’t expect David Palmer to tidy up.

Holy fuck! Every year, "24" brings in a really good not-quite-A-list star, and this year is no exception. Let's just hope Sean can live up to Shoreh Agdashloo's phenomenal performance this past year.

I really wish this hadn't been posted, now I'll end up thinking about the next season when it's still 5 months away.

At least there's a "24" video game coming out this fall. That'll tide me over for a while.

You know... I thought that before I posted it. I just thought it would be a little news to tide us over.... but I am the same problem... it's killing me now.

were only half way though the newest series here.

I reakon having the stupid hobbit will fuck it up. I hate new characters in 24. There always annoying in thier first series. Edgar was a wanker and Chloe in her debut season was annoying. The only one to break the mold i though was michelle.

And tony better be back. That man is the fucking balls

Yeah. The show got so much worse when they started adding new characters. I mean, did you see last season? God, it sucked!

It'd be nice if some of the newer characters actually went the distance though. Too many of them seem to appear in one series and then vanish. I hope we haven't seen the last of Erin Driscoll, for a start...

Anyone ever stop and wonder how much Jack Bauer gets paid to do all this crazy shit? I mean he should get paid like a super hero or something. He's done it for five years...

He has to have a Shaqueille O'Neal salary.

I dunno, FBI agents probably don't get that much more than teacher salary (AKA not very much money) and they have more authority than CTU would, so I'll say not very much.

Your missing my point. Some new characters in their first season usally suck. Look at Edgar and Chloe they were treated as jokes in thier first season. Thier not getting serous roles. I can see the same thing happening with the hobbit. And btw the last season wasnt that flash.

I hope next season we do have a new ctu director Drischoll lacked charisma and lacked any sort of spark to make us care about her
