The Draft Lottery 2005 in Review
Now the 2005 lottery is over, I've had a think about it and this draft changed Smackdown! and Raw dramatically. The superstars we watched each show for switched.
The Things that Hurt Smackdown! 1. In my opinion, before the draft, Kurt Angle was Smackdown! He is in my opinion the best wrestler in WWE. If Kurt hadn't been traded, I think the dradt could've improved Smackdown. But Kurt's trade to Raw definately changed Smackdown for the worse. Perhaps the WWE felt that trading Chris Benoit would make up for it. But Benoit is not treated right and will never be as over as Angle. 2. Carlito was a fresh new face and there were a lot of people that he had yet to feud with, there was no need to trade Carlito, if anyone were to feud with Benjamin, Charlie Haas deserved it. Carlito was a new face and great talent, he didn't need to be traded. The Things that Helped Smackdown! 1. Randy Orton is an incredible talent, a talented Wrestler and has good mic. skills. He is above John Cena in my opinion. Now Evolution's true star can feel free from the watchful eye of Triple H. 2. Christian more than made up for Carlito. If the WWE treated him right he could be the next WHC. He is good in the ring and is without a doubt the best mic. person in the WWE. The Things that Hurt Raw 1. The loss of Christian is the only thing that hurt Raw. He was the most over superstar on Raw before he was traded, looking back at the old Raw threads, everyone was waiting for Christian to appear to 'save' Raw. The Things that Helped Raw 1. Kurt Angle has made a Raw an even better show. He is the true star of Raw's trades. The Mistake Trades 1. Without a doubt 100% The Big Show. He is suffering on Raw. On Smackdown he had shots at the Main Events. On Raw, he's treated badly, he has nothing to do. He appears every two weeks usually. This was a wasted trade. The Superstars that got Screwed! 1. Chavo Guerrero is a cruiserweight. He is incredibly talented and made the cruiserweight division look good. When Chavo got traded, many thought that Chavo could be like Eddie on Raw. Bring Latino Heat (Chavito Heat) to Raw. But the WWE screwed Chavo by giving him a gimmick that may work, if WWE tried hard enough. Now Chavo AKA Kerwin wrestles on Heat and has a few segments on Raw but has yet to Wrestle on the main show. Chavo was 'screwed' 2. Big Show. He has gone down to mid card when he was a main eventer. Big Show is doomed to a feud with Snitsky. Comparing the Superstars to their Equals 1. Kurt Angle to Chris Benoit - Angle wins as the WWE must like him more as he's getting a title shot, Benoit is stuck in feuds with OJ. 2. Christian to Big Show - Christian wins by far. At least Christian appears on SMackdown every week. And he is more talented mic. wise, Charisma wise, and in my opinion Ring wise. 3. Randy Orton to Carlito - Randy Orton. He is a good wrestler, and pretty good on the mic. Carlito is excelent mic. wise but not a very good wrestler. In the end, wrestling talent is more important. 4. Muhammed Hassan tro Rob Van Dam - Seeing as Hassan has already been released. Rob Van Dam wins by default. 5. John Cena to Dave Batista - Cena has a good load of heels to make him a star, Kurt Angle, Edge, Triple H, previously Chris Jericho and Shawn MIchaels. Batista has...John Bradhaw Layfield. Until Batista has someone better to feud with, Cena wins. --------------------------------------------------------- Those are my thoughts on the 2005 draft, what do you think? Don't forget about Danny "Damaja" Basham, Rene and Chavo.

Smackdown got screwed. They lost Cena, Angle, and Show and ended up with Orton, Benoit, and Christian. Out of that lot I'd maybe take CC over big show but Raw could've kept the other 2. They lost two main eventers and got three mid carders in return. It's even dumber since they've buried Christian from the get go by having him lose to Booker T at his first PPV.
