anyone know if there's some kind of TV deal where you can get all the teams games of the team of your choice every week? Like I know you can get the NFL Package thing where you get like all the games, but is there a thing where I can just get the Jets?

yea, you do. Oh well, I'm just gonna have to enjoy the 3 Jet games I see this year.
![]() That's the one bad thing about moving far from your home state, you can't watch your teams anymore unless you get these packages. |

Especially the new "NFL SNAP" this year, where they replay games in 30mins... that's gonna be cool for highlights and stuff. College will be fun, haven't really watched for a few years, but going to watch every ND game this year and try to see most Michigan games. Might be going to South Bend for the USC @ ND game... that will be unreal. |

The Minnesota - Tulsa game is on ESPN2, the crowd is mic'd up pretty well, but I don't really like Minnesota. A guy from my high school is a redshirt sophomore linebacker for them, he might play some special teams tonight. Maroney is f'ing amazing though, how did the Gophers get him?

College sucks basically. Anything college really. Who cares about a bunch of students anyways? Until you make it pro, you dont matter.
I also never had any school pride, so why would I care about the college team? It's crap. NFL is nice to see back though. |

College basketball is 100 times better then NBA, and in many ways college football is better then NFL. The NFL is the best run pro league though, and they have been able to keep a lot of what makes college great in the pros.

College is not better, because you are not seeing them at their best playing the very best. There are players in college who suck, and frankly, they bring the game down. Who cares if they run a good system or whatever. If you aren't in the top league in your sport, you aren't worthy, therefore, how can you call it the best, or better?
It's like watching the cfl in a way. You cant really get that into it. Sure the game may actually be played better, it's usually more exciting when it comes to it's scores in the grey cup over the super bowl, but these are all players that couldnt make it in the big time. They would rather be playing backup on a team in the nfl then winning the grey cup here as a starter. Fact. In college, the games may be more exciting, relative to the skills on the field. But who can really get up for a college game where perhaps 70 percent of the team wont make the nfl, or at least wont start there ever. It's pointless to root for anything unless it is the very best, competing in the very top league. |

In college it's all about the emotion. It's more dramatic. So if that's your thing, college football is excellent. You could compare it to punk music in a way. It isn't the best talent wise, but what makes it great is the emotion.

Actually on average there is probably less then one player per D1-A team who will ever make the NFL, and that is what makes it better. Major college football isn't poorly played, you aren't going to go to a SEC or Big 12 football game and see a team with just shitty players. Maybe if you are going to a Central Florida vs. Arkansas State game, but that's not what most of college football is, and quite frankly that game would probably be better then the 49ers vs. the Browns.
College sports have an atmosphere unmatched by pro sports, because it doesn't consist of a bunch of rich guys moving into your city for a few months and playing football. These are guys who go to school with you, who represent you, represent the alumni, they are you. The games actually mean a lot more, there is a bigger chance of uncertainty. In the NFL you basically know whats going to happen. I'm not trying to knock the NFL, like I said it is the best run pro league and still keeps whats good about football in the league. Their games have great atmosphere, great marketing, great production, all of that. I am just simply saying that if you know what you are talking about you would understand what college sports offer. If you are from Canada or went to a d-3 college, you won't understand. |

Well first, Hockey is the best sport in the world. It has the best of every sport, all combined. Nothing compares to it either in the playoffs. But I never said Hockey was the only sport that ever mattered, cuz I do like the NFL. And college sports is simply boring. May not be awful, but I dont know how anyone could care about teams from fucking school institutions going at it, as if it truly matters. All that may be intriguing is watching some young prospect who may be the next great star in the pros. As for Canadians watching NCAA, I never got that. You're from fucking Canada, why watch it. Hell, why even show it up here? |

Well I really don't mind if you don't like college football. It's really your loss though. You are missing out big time. You can't get over the fact that these dudes aren't pros - so what? Michigan vs Ohio State is one of the greatest football games every year, 100,000 fans in the big house. FULL HOUSE every game, even if hte team sucks. The atmosphere is so much better in college its ridiculous, NFL football has a great atmosphere too don't get me wrong but college its just better. You can't even compare NBA and college hoops though, there is NO atmosphere when you watch the NBA just a bunch of rich dudes sitting on floor seats that don't even care about the team.

You are probably right about the NBA but I detest that league so yeah..I also dont mind people enjoying college sports, it's just that I dont get the big reason why it can pack in so many people for a game that for me would be like watching Laval vs Victoria or something..just doesnt seem interesting. I dont really go for simply atmosphere, I go for who's out there playing. |

This is stupid. Who gives a shit about school rah rah bullshit. And you guys keep coming up with big game atmoshpere excuse when the truth is that most major programs spend 4 0r 5 weeks out of the year competing against teams that actually have a chance and the rest of the year playing patsies.
Where's the "drama" and "atmosphere" on watching an SEC team drop 50 on Prairie View? USC is opening the seaosn by visiting Hawaii..and they're 37 point favorites. Woop dee doo. Go NCAA. Take away the alumni bullshit and the fact is that the NFL is better in every single way:Better athletes. Galactically better. The jump from college to pro football is the biggest jump in professional sports. Better coaches. How many college 'geniuses' fell flat on their faces in The League because you can't just recruit your way to 12 wins every year. Spurrier. Erickson. Carroll. Switzer. None of them could cut it. That's because being a successful NFL coach means you have to eat, sleep, and breathe fotball for 9 months out of the year and most people can't hack it. Better games. More tight contests. More intense. Fuck that school spirit. The NFL is the only league w/o guaranteed contracts. You screw up big, you might be fired. How can you compare the week in week out intensity of a major college playing against a mostly fluff schedule where the best players routinely overmatch the opposition against a league where every single player on the field was among the best players in the country when they went to school? Oh, and the officiating is light years better. Do you ever hear stories of NFL referees giving out 5 downs? They screw up, but I've seen Big 12 games where the officials were just grossly incomeptent. Also, there's an actual champion at the end off the year. How can you say the college game is better when this year's national title is going to be determined in part by a coaches poll where its been proven that a good portion of the coaches don't bother to watch other teams' games or outright let their assistants fill out the poll for them? Or that Gallup poll made up of a group of experts...mostly a bunch of old has beens one of whom didn't know that the Vick at QB wasn't Michael but his little brother? The Bowl system alone makes the College game a joke. Oh..and you want big game atmosphere? Super Bowl, bitches. The single most watched event in north America on an annual basis. NFL football is the best athletes in the world at their sport playing at the highest level humanly possible. Anyone arguing that college is better because "its more emotional or there's more of a connection" is just being petty because NFL players are getting paid. Like that stud CB is at your school because he gives a fuck about you? He's there to get the free diploma, to let the boosters buy him a car, to sleep with your girlfriend, and maybe, if he's lucky, to get to the NFL. |

NFL has the best players in the world. Yes but that doesn't mean watching a college football game sucks. I can watch a high school game, a pop warner game and enjoy it. I enjoy football. You are acting like College athletes can't hack it or something, or play a terrible game. So what if the shit doesn't work in the pros? You gonna tell me Texas Tech's offense isn't exciting to watch? Its like the Colts on steriods. Shit yeah, that won't work in the NFL because the defenses are too complex but who gives a fuck. It's still awesome to watch.
And rah rah bullshit? I don't even go to a D1 school, the atmosphere has nothing to do with being a current, past, or future student of one of these schools. They do play "patsies" but guess what, you don't have to watch those games. There is so many games going on you don't get stuck with shitty ass games like you can catch in the NFL. Great, New York Giants vs the Denver Broncos. I live in Boston I don't want to watch this shit, but thats what I get because of "regional coverage" Only like 4 or so NFL games are shown in my area a week. College football is on Thrusday threw Saturday, its fucking great. FSU vs Miami this Monday Night will probably be the best football game played on Monday Night this entire season. Your post was cool though til you had to bring up a stud corner back fucking peoples girlfriends or something, I don't know what you were trying to do there. Really had nothing to do with anything. |

yeah, got a ticket trade offer... haven't decided yet... the price is my bud table (4 seats and $100.00 drink credit) for the last sox game of the year vs. the Yankees. The guy said he might throw in 2 pats tickets, told him if it was Oakland or Indy I'd do it... he's "thinking". Basiclly, we're both trying to see if the game means something. If it doesn't, he's over paying, if it does, I'll get much more then that. |

And the stuff about the mentality of the 'stud CB' was there to point out the great irony in the rah rah mentality of the NCAA. College fans like to point to stuff like "school spirit" and "student athlete" to try to prove that college games somehow mean more emotionally and that they just can't stand to watch a bunch of paid mercenaries going from team to team, making as much money as pocssible and not giving a shit about the fans. Well, guess what? College football players are just as mercenary, if not more so. Because for most of them, the NCAA is the only place they're going to get that treatment. They might "love" the school, they might not, but they are there to get as much as humanly possible out of the opportunity just like anybody else would be. What gets me even more about the whole "I don't want to watch a bunch of millionaires running around" bullshit is that, outside of pro hockey players, NFL players have to be the hardest working, most normal, most anonymous gourp of pro athletes around. No guaranteed money, the average career lasts less than three years, a great likelihood of permanent physical injury/discomfort, and a huge majority making a very normal league minimum of roughly 300 K a year. These aren't spoiled prima donnas. In short, college football does not "suck;" but its just not the same caliber of the NFL and any excuses that people give are basically crap. |

never been a fan of college. Although I never came to watch my HS football team or really cared eathier. I had like zero school spirit. I mean, I was on the track teams, but I never really watched any of the other sports teams. Even in track, I kind of just showed up, ran my race(s) and left. haha.
But I dunno, there's so many teams and I don't know any players, so it's hard for me to get into. I do love college basketball though. Last edited by Loose Cannon; 09-02-2005 at 08:55 PM. |

Damn, I went to a high school game with the tv station tonight and its so weird. I haven't been to one since I graduated. It was all the same though, the same stupid chants, everything. The only difference was that the cheerleaders were really hot, in Minnesota they were all nasty as the dance team was hot. Here they both are. Sometimes I wish I wasn't 20
