Four seconds was the previous record? Wow... that must have been something, especially if they weren't empty netters.

Center ice, Centerman wins the face to the Dman, Dman shoots past 6 players into the empty net 140 odd feet away all in 3 seconds.

Yeah I was like whoa, 3 seconds apart, then I was like oh, empty net, that's quite debil.
13:37 Vancouver Todd Bertuzzi Assists: Markus Naslund, Brendan Morrison Game tied 4-4 I find this more impressive (time of the goal)

the second one on the four second one was pretty flucky the center won the draw to the winger... the winger dumped it in off the boards and went 5 hole on the goalie. |

I always wondered why it said Empty Net 1-1
I just thought he was a really bad goalie.

An empty net goal is when a team scores when the other team has the goalie pulled.
It probably sounds stupid for a team to pull the goalie and leave the net open, but doing so allows an extra player to come onto the ice. It's basically a desperation move to try and get a goal, teams only really do it when they're down by a goal or two with a minute or so to go. It's essentially like having a power-play for your team, only 6-on-5 instead of the traditional 5-on-4. |

It does work sometimes. You'd be surprised at how rarely the other team scores on the open net. You'd think that with the open net they're guaranteed a goal, but a lot of times the team with the extra attacker puts on a lot of pressure. But yeah, it doesn't work far too often, but enough that the coach will risk doing it, I guess.

I don't watch hockey a lot, but I've actually seen a few cases where it did work.
But yeah, it seems like you can just get the puck and dump it toward the goal, but there are guys SWARMING. Obviously, they have nothing to lose, so they're always going to be attacking. |

another thing is if they try to hit the empty net all the way from their own zone, the run the risk of icing the puck which results in a face off in their own zone so teams don't always aim for the empty net but just dump it out of the zone to be safe. |

I pulled my goalie in NHL 2004 one time against Detroit when it was 1-0 to them with a couple mins left, and they scored off the faceoff
Then I forgot to put him back in, and they scored again

Yeah, never pull your goalie in hockey video games because the computer has perfect accuracy.

Yeah, in Face Off 2001 I was getting killed by the Rangers so I pulled my goalie in like the second and ended up losing by like 16 points

One time in NHL 2003 in my season I was playing the team with the worst powerplay in the league. The stats for powerplay/PK are ridiculous in the season, like every team has 96%+ PK, and like 3% PP. So I got a 5 minute major for charging or something, and pulled my goalie. I would win the draw to my Dman and pass it back into the empty net so they got a goal.
After the game, they went like... 59/2 on the powerplay. Afterwards I checked their stats, and their powerplay conversion was still only at like 8% ![]() |

Also against Detroit, the last game I had I let in one PP goal all game, and outshot them (first time I outshot a team on Medium) by 20 shots or so.
2 mins left, I let in a PP goal, and in the last 5 seconds, one of them clears it down the ice, it hits the board comes back and goes in off of Giguere's skate ![]() 3-0 as the result was very misleading

Haha yeah I've scored a goal like that before. The other team was on the PP and I had the puck behind my net. I just shot it down the ice because they were really putting the pressure on, and it bounced off the board and came up behind the goalie and went in off him. It was funny as hell.
