Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks
This game is surprisingly good, considering every other game that Midway made under the MK moniker that wasn't a fighting game was horrible.

It's extremely addictive, and has some pretty complex combos and funny fatalities. There's something really gratifying about watching Kung Lao pull a rabbit out of his hat and then beat someone to death with it.

I am rather pissed that this didn't come out on gamecube. It'll probably come out on March with playable characters that actually mess up the story a la Deception.

Seriously rent the game and see if you like it. Its fun for a while but the glitches pi$$ed me off and i took it back on the same day.

Its not a bad game i suppose. Fans of the series will probably love it BUT the uk version doesn't contain MK2 as an unlockable part of the game, so bare that in mind when your thinking of getting this game.

I can tell a bad game after about half an hours play, ive played games for about 20 years now and i know what to look out for in an average game. The glitches spoil this game for me, plus the lack of moves and the enemy AI.

Rent it and try it.. thats my advice.

i can also tell if a game is bad or not after a half hour. and i've also played games for 20 years. and this game kicks ass. sure, it has its glitches, but they haven't bothered me. but i agree with you, rent first if you're unsure of it. mkii was my favorite out of all the mk's, so this was an excellent game to me.

I'm a huge fan of MK, so I will probably get this. Growing up, I marked the fuck out for Curtis Stryker. I can see why people don't like him, though. I think if he came back revamped, he would be pretty awesome, though.

Well thats fair enough, i will be honest their was around 5 or 6 things i loved about this game - the gameplay was pretty good although not exactly very deep, but hell its a beat em' up game so maybe thats par for the course.

Presentation and sound effects seemed damn good too.

I suppose if your a fan of the series then rent it and buy it if you like it.

I liked Mortal Kombat games but ive never really loved them - they just seemed to simple to me compared to the tekken games. Maybe its just a matter of taste.

I got pretty pissed trying to jump over a gap on a high ledge and not being able to do it because i was literally bouncing off the ledge when trying to jump across. - Shit like that really pisses me off!

Yeah, because we all know how deep Tekken is. Who would EVER think of button mashing? Mortal Kombat: Deception and the Dead or Alive series though..now those are button mashers. :shity:

And WTF are you talking about not enough moves? Did you not pay attention to the game? You start off with plenty of combos, three specials, quick attacks, lunge attacks, verticle attacks, throws..not to mention upgraded to new combos and specials. Moron.

Ive seen more moves in double dragon for christs sake!

As for tekken and most of the other good beat em' ups, noobs button bash but when you know all the moves there really are a shit load of them.

But hey i can tell your a fanboy so i probably couldn't convince you if i tried all weekend, so i tell you what you enjoy the game but me im glad i got it on rental so i could send it straight back, the game is classic Midway trash.

I played it for a few days when I had the chance, and thought it was entertaining.

Once you unlock all the characters, which took me fucking forever, playing against other people is quite enjoyable.

It is basically like Nemesis with MK characters and you get a buntch more moves to do with your character (like fatalities).

Its definetly worth a rent, but I wouldnt spend $50 on it. Like Destor said, I would probably buy it for 20-30.

I had a different view on the game thats all.. its funny how i can get flamed for something as stupid as giving my own view on a very mediocre game. Tell me how great this game is in a week or maybe a month why dont you? Because by that time it would be collecting dust on your shelf.

Only trying to let people know its not worth a purchase, some people agree some people dont - thats fair enough. I wont be loosing any sleep over it anyway unlike some.

Well you get where im coming from im sure, as for the "Feck" comment its from a comedy based on a group of vicars / preachers who work in Ireland. And they say "Feck" a lot, it was pretty roll over laughing at the time because it took the piss out of Ireland and priests, it was fantastic!

Father Ted it was called.

One of the best british comedies at the time.
