Earliest sports memory?

So, what is the earliest sports memory you have?

Something specific, not vauge. Like I remember going to see the A's when I was like 4, but I just remember the seats being orange and smell of food(s).

My most specific is Joe Carter's WS winning HR. I was at my grandparents house watching the whole thing. It was awesome. I ran around the house to acting like him. He was my hero for about a month.

A touchdown run by Charles Way in I think the '95 season against maybe the Cards or Redskins, one of those.

It would be going to a Habs vs Sabres games when I was 5. It was a birthday gift because I was already a huge hockey fans.

Patrick Roy goaled a wonderful game. That's from 1988 or 1989. It was a regular season game, and it's from back when the Sabres still had the blue and yellow jersey.

Montreal won the game 4-something. I also remember getting autographs from Brian Skrudland and Russ Courtnall.

I definitely remember the game Don Cherry always references when Boston got the "Too Many Men" penalty and Guy Lafleur made them pay for it in the playoffs.

I remember staying up really late and watching I believe the 1980 All-Star game with Gordie Howe.

Uhh...the first baseball game I went to was an Orioles game and there was a huge fight but I don't remember it.

I went to a Mets game around 1999 and remember Ricky Henderson hitting a leadoff homer.

I went to a Skins/Eagles game around the same time and just remember Brian Mitchell returning kicks...nothing too memorable

The 1990 World Cup in Italy, basically because everyone went mad about football when Ireland got to the quarter finals. That's when a lot of us started really getting into it as kids. My family were mostly GAA people, but football definitely won my heart then.

I remember then starting to follow the qualifiers for the 1994 World Cup avidly, because Ireland had Northern Ireland in their group and it was a really big thing, and I remember the night we played them to qualify. They weren't too bad a side back then, and we drew 1-1 at Windsor Park to seal the finals place.

I started following English football around the same time, early 90s, but mostly I watched Champions League matches live on ITV and Serie A on channel 4 (plus Transworld Sport) because we didn't have Sky for ages and got really big into some of the players in Europe because they were fucking class. Gullit, Van Basten, Papin etc. because AC Milan were the best team around then, and the likes of Baggio and Stoichkov. I don't think another set of world class players will ever seem as good to me. None of the players around now will ever beat Romario in my heart.

AwFuL - Hawthorn vs Adelaide 1993 Elimination final (some bizarre reason that's my earliest memory of AFL, probably cos my dad got free tickets from his work to go, so he took me and my brother)

Football - vaguely remember watching South Melbourne Hellas vs Melbourne Croatia 1991 NSL Grand Final on TV as a 5 year old, seeing Hellas win on penalties 5-4.

The first 'greatest' game I remember watching in AwFuL was Hawthorn vs North Melbourne 1994 (I think) drawn qualifying final which went to extra time. I can't even remember who won - I think it was North Melbourne (my brother was a Hawthorn supporter hence all these references to going to Hawthorn games lol)

The first 'greatest' game I remember watching in football was the 1993 World Cup qualifier between Australia and Argentina, first leg in Sydney where the Socceroos came from 0-1 down to hold Argentina to a 1-1 draw. We only lost 1-0 in Buenos Aires via an own goal, so to only lose 2-1 on aggregate to Argentina over 2 legs was a pretty fucking decent effort.

The 1994 play-off final between Leicester and Derby as it was my first match, i feel like i know stuff from quite a few years earlier because of all the footage i've seen but that's my first memory really, i can't remember knowing many games in the build up to that one at the time. But yeah, i went with my mate and his dad to Wembley and it was our first victory there in 7 games, 2-1, and we went up to the premiership.

The first match I went to Leicester v Stoke in Division 1, opening home game of the 1995/96 season.

We lost 3-2 and I got my foot stuck in the seat because I stood on it to see a near-side corner kick.

Probably going to a Wrexham vs Scunthorpe match with my dad and brother. My first footy match and it was so exciting. 4-3 to Wrexham.

Baseball: Red Sox game Rod Carew hit a HR for the Angels, got the ball back and gave it to me and signed it. He also gave a kid a bat. Became my favorite player that day and still is.

Football: Pre-season pats v. greenbay or SF. 100deg out, and new policy not letting people bring in coolers of water. My uncle canceled his tickets after that, I think this was around mid 80's. I also remember the Pats SB loss to the bears, but that was via TV.

Basketball: 1984 Celtics went to a few games, and Celtics or Red Sox are probably the team I've been the the most.

Hockey: Terry O'Rielly breaking the nose of someone on the rangers. Met him at a charity softball thing a few weeks later, nice guy.

I was only 2 and a half but I remember Ireland vs England in the 1988 European Championships and the Liverpool vs Arsenal game at Anfield when Michael Thomas scored in the last minute back in 1989. My clearest early memory (as in I distinctly remember sitting and watching) was England vs Cameroon in the 1990 World Cup.

Most specific: Giants vs. Jaguars preseason game @ Giants Stadium.....first live game, we left in the 3rd quarter after the Giants scored a TD and were still getting their asses kicked

UK/Duke elite 8 92. What a game people in Kentucky are still depressed over that but I am not because the 98 comeback after being down by 24 points beats it to me.
