My burner is being really random

I use 2 diff types of software

Win DVD creater 2

and TMPGE (or something like that)

now when i'm burning dvd's it's saying it's completed, but nothings actually been burnt to the disc. Is there anyway to amke sure my burner is actually working properlly?

Note: When I do audio CD's through Nero i've got no probs

Is the burning device set to your burner? Or is it set as an Image Recorder.
