S-Video
My laptop has a s-video connector which allows me to connect my computer to my tv:
You can attach a television receiver (NTSC or PAL) to the video-out connector of your computer and display the output of your computer on it. You will need an S-Video cable, available in an electronics store. I've been searching on various computer store website ( futureshop, bestbuy, etc) and have seen that 2 types of s-video cables: The S-video cable on its own, and the s-video cable with the red, white, and yellow connectors. My question is do I need to buy the s-video cable with the red, white, and yellow connectors? Or is is possible for me to just buy the S-video cable on my own, because I already have an extra set of the red, white, and yellow connection. Thanks for the help everyone! |

You should be able to use both. Depending on what inputs are on your TV. You just plug the S-Video into the output on your laptop and then the other end to your TV. Just see what your TV has.

Svideo by itself should be ok if your tv has svideo, you'll also need sound connections.

The plain s-video cable is all you need. If you have a speaker system for your laptop like I do (2.1), then just stick with that for audio. If you would rather use the tv's audio, then you will need a y-adaptor that converts the green (headphone) jack into the red/white audio cables, which you can then plug into the tv.
