A question about Regal's push.
Does anyone know why the writers just suddenly killed/stopped caring about Regal's push on RAW?
Because he was having a great feud with Triple H and then suddenly he's on HeAT in a Tag Team Match jobbing. Well when Regal first came to the WWE he was in the European Title scene, then he moved up into the IC Title scene, then he was the Commissioner, he then went back to being IC Champ. After that, he was out for some time He returns and gets a massive push, and then it suddenly dies and he's now on SmackDown! or Velocity sometimes jobbing in Tag Matches. I thought that if the Regal/HHH Feud went any further he could have be World Heavyweight Champ AT LEAST once. Anyone agree with me on that, and does anyone know why the writers stopped caring? ![]() ![]() |

I don't know about World Champion, but he definitely could have been a legitimate main-event threat.
My guess is this is just another example of the WCW alumni glass ceiling, but I don't know any more than that. |

It seems Regal always gets pushed and depushed, even back in his WCW days.

Regal has been one of those guys that I never was "crazy" about, but I always liked. He has been wrestling for 138 years and has great in-ring talent. I thought he was brilliant as the boss.

He had 2 WOW matches with Benoit I enjoyed (On a Nitro in late-96 and the Pillman show) But does anyone remember the best of 5 series of matches he had with Flair in 94?

Vince more than likely considers him a good undercard character (thus his "Man's Man" gimmick, European title scene, Commissioner gigs, Tajiri/Eugene tag teams). His pushes more than likely came from influence from friends/good words (HHH, Austin, and possibly Foley as well as other backstage talent like Patterson)
I think he would've been a good fit for a ME run, but I'm not sure how well he'd have done as a champ. He's one of those guys that should've been around ten years earlier. |

Oh come on, Regal's match with Flair a few backs was solid gold. If that didn't convince WWE writers that he's a talented wres...
nevermind. Logic, WWE writers, the hell am I thinking? |

I'm guessing they see Regal as a mechanic type of guy - he can be a strong mid-card or undercard guy, and they can use him as necessary. |

I've always been a fan of Regal to an extent, though occassionally he has shining moments that really make me like him. The entire time he stepped up and looked after Euegene, he saved a really retarded angle. He was brilliant, and it's too bad that he got dropped so low.
