Austin didn't recently walk out.
Sorry if this has already been posted, but I searched "austin walk" and didn't find this there.
Wikipedia![]() At WWE Homecoming, Austin again returned to RAW, delivering stunners to all four members of the McMahon family. Announcer Jim Ross, a good friend of Stone Cold was 'fired' for failing to apologize properly for his inaction during this incident. This angle led to a match in which Austin agreed to face Ross's replacement, Jonathan Coachman, at Taboo Tuesday, with the stipulation of Ross regaining his announcing job if Austin were to win, and Austin losing his own job if he lost the match. However, it was thought that Stone Cold broke the agreement and once again walked out on the company, just days before his well-publicised match was to take place. Actually, Austin suffered a back injury while helping a friend move furniture in his home state of Texas just a couple of days prior to the match. As it was planned, Coachman would have won over Austin with help of the returning Mark Henry, thereby not enabling Ross to return to the show if Austin had been okay to wrestle. |

That puts an entirely new spin on everyone's view of that situatin. Or, at any rate, it's completely news to me.

Even if he was hurt, given how simple that match could of been it would of requred zero bumps, maybe a chair shot.
Still think Austin didn't want to put the Coach over and I still agree with him for doing so |

I think both sides of the story are true. He probably didnt want to put Coach over so he fabricated this moving furniture story to get out of putting Coachman over.

That's basically the story I heard near when it happened, but I heard it with the spin on it that Austin's injury was not that bad, and that if his match was with someone big he would have sucked it up and worked.

I've heard it before.
By the way, does anyone think it's ironic that after someone asked if anyone knew how to use the quote tag, this guy goes and makes an elaborate HTML/graphic quote tag for himself? |

I'd rather him use the quote tag. It makes the real quote tag look like shit.

Interesting stuff, but i'm glad Austin didn't go through through with the match.especially since they were actually going to have Coach go over Austin, man that would've sucked. I'm just glad we now have Joey Styles.

Vietnamese Crippler![]() Since when is Wikipedia a valid wrestling news source? Yeah, true. But because of the great experiences I have had with it before (and incorrect junk is edited each day), I trust it enough to post it here. Xero Limit 126![]() By the way, does anyone think it's ironic that after someone asked if anyone knew how to use the quote tag, this guy goes and makes an elaborate HTML/graphic quote tag for himself? I've never used [quote] anywhere, so I won't start here.

I think there's a Kevin Nash joke somewhere in this whole "Austin hurt his back" thing...

Yeah, well, uh, hate to break it to ya, "DaVe", but just about anybody can, and will, if they think they're right about a certain topic, change info on Wikipedia quite easily. The entry for Eddie, however is much more accurate than this article.

Yeah, well, uh, hate to break it to ya, "theANIMAL", but theANIMAL![]() ...the great experiences I have had with it before (and incorrect junk is edited each day), I trust it enough to post it here. Incorrect junk is edited each and every day - they have discussion on these topics on what is right and wrong. If people disagreed with the ideas enough, they'd have already edited it. It is pretty odd that you also have no evidence for a comparison of the accurate-ness of the Eddie and Steve Williams article if I were to say "just about anybody can, and will, if they think they're right about a certain topic, change info on Wikipedia quite easily". |

I actually believe this story. Because as stupid as Austin was, no way was he stupid enough to think that he would win that match to get JR (WHO HAD JUST HAD COLON SURGERY!) his job back. The booking for that match was so transparent, a trained lemur would have seen the ending coming.
So, giving Austin the benefit of the doubt for not being a complete idiot (and that's asking a lot of me), I now believe that he injured himself moving furniture. |

The report, however, is the same one that was delivered to us before, with the belief of folks backstage that he faked or exaggerated said injury to duck out. And let's face it, this wouldn't be the first time he said he was okay with something then ducked out, or even a precedent for wrestling in general.

Meh. I was really commenting on the article itself, which I had only then taken the time to read.
Wikipedia tends to have a lot of op-ed "facts" and the like, so I rarely take it too seriously. |
