I wish there were more matches on it. I felt kinda cheated.
Christian was the best, though. |

Yeah just watched it the other day as well. His promos were hilarious. Something about having lawnmowers roll over him or something?

It is to bad that Wrestling fans are now going to remember him for what they said in the DVD and not how it actually was. Warrior was one of the most over wrestlers in the WWE, everything on the dvd is taken out of context. Just watch one Warrior match and you can see why, he gets the crowd into it from start to finish, something almost all of the wwe superstars can not now. That is why he was WWF Champion, not because he could put on a wrestling clinic, but because he got the crowd so into the match, it didn't matter. That's what the 80's wrestling was about, it had very little to do with wrestling, and much more to do with entertainment. That's why Hogan was so good, and that's why Warrior was so good. WWE needs to get there heads out of there asses, because if Warrior wasn't that good then why did the WWF put the world title on him, and have him main event over guys like Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 5 and why did they let Warrior end the career of Randy Savage?

Yes, Warrior was a big draw while he was on his way to the top. However, he was a major flop once he won the belt (at Wrestlemania 6, not 5, just f.y.i.). The novelty of the "unstoppable force" gimmicks wears off when there's nowhere else for them to go (see: Goldberg, Bill), and the crowd stops caring. Yes, they went wild when he finally beat Hogan. But once his initial momentum wore off, Warrior couldn't keep the fans excited about him, despite giving the crowd more or less exactly what they wanted to see (see: Orton, Randy).
The true greats in the industry- your Flairs, Stings, Austins, and yes, even your Hogans- were able to keep bringing in the crowds even after their first mega-push came to an end. Warrior couldn't, and that's why he'll only be remembered as one of WWE's countless failed experiments to find a new top draw. |

I agree. I watched it to 2 wrestling fan friends of mine, they didn't agree, but I think the warrior would've been one of the biggest draws ever if not for all his bullshit. Agreed, he couldnt wrestle, but in a way, I think his persona limited what minimal ability he had. No one would want to see this superhero like guy come in and wrestle a match, they'd wanna see him come in and kick some ass, which he did. Warrior screwed himself over basically. |

My favorite Warrior match was not on there (Summerslam 89 vs Rude) I wish Warrior told his side of the story on the DVD however. They never talked about how he rejected the HOF offer. Plus I heard while Warrior did hold up Vince for money at Summerslam 91 I read that Vince screwed him out of his WM 7 money.

When he made his comeback at WM8 The RCA Dome went crazy! everyone was shocked. Besides the Austin/Rock title match on RAW in NOV 98 my favorite live wrestling moment!

The beautiful part of it all is that, while it criticises Warrior tremendously, the question is never raised of - if he was really that bad, why the fuck did WWE continue to bring him back?

he may have been difficult but i bet he was nothing like shawn micheals was back int he day. He was larger then life, a cartoon charcter coming to life is the best way hes ever been described. Hulk Hogans entrance gave you goosebumps, ultimate warriors made you feel like he was gonna run out of your tv screen, run past you and then into the ring. I understand that there are pepole who just didnt like him (same way some pepole NEVER liked hogan..ever) but a lot of this hating has been band wagon riding. like ANY of us knew what a REAL wrestling match looked like in the 80s, most of us had 8 diffrent ideas of what a body slam was, and so did the annoucers. There have been many hulk hogans since hulk hogan, but never another warrior.

Yeah, I don't recall more hogans. I do recall 2 undertakers, and multiple people playing Doink, but only ever one Hogan.

Warrior: Won the Belt from Hoagn, but the WWF completely forgot to build heels for him. Hogan HAD a tremendous array of built heels for him. Warrior had Rick Rude, who wasn't even on Warrior's level. Once the audience sees that the challenger to a Title is not on equal terms as the Champion, you're doomed right away Goldberg: WCW completely fucked this up by having him lose to Nash. Goldberg was more over then he ever was come Starcade 98. From the buyrates, to the merchendise, to the ticket sales, Goldberg was doing everything right. Then WCW has him lose and then continue to book him as a joke after that and thus killing his steam off. Orton: The most over guy in the WWE at Summerslam when he won the Title. Then once again, the WWE screws up by turning Orton babyface, making him run off all the time, turning him into a pussy and thus killing the "coolness" factor that got him over in the first place. So it's not that the crowd wore on these guys because they didn't care for them anymore, it was the booking that totally screwed all these guys up. People tend to not believe this, but it can take 6 months sometimes to build a guy to a point where the audience goes nuts for them, but you can kill a guys momentum with 1 or 2 stupid booking decisions. |

Flair, Rock and Austin are not just Hogan knock offs. Flair was before or same time as Hogan. Austin is the greatest anti-hero ever, and Rock everything Hogan ever wanted to be...

With Nash on the booking team at the time, what more would you expect?

I still don't get what you're trying to say. Guys like Taker, Hogan, Rock, Austin, Bret, HBK, Warrior, Flair, Andre, Savage have never been duplicated and never will be. There's no point in trying to say only the Warrior was one of a kind.
