Does anyone remember this particular Nitro... (Ric Flair topic)
I guess it was about 1998, Mean Gene was interviewing Flair in the ring, and Ric Flair started getting angry and excited and started running around the ring and threw his jacket on the canvas and was stomping it and kicking it and elbow-dropping and knee-dropping it, then he stopped, was panting, clutched his chest/shoulder, sat down and slowly left the ring with some medics? My memory of this isn't completely clear but that was about what happened.
Was that supposed to happen like that, or did Ric Flair do something to himself? I remember thinking that he was really having a mild heart attack or something. |

It was later found out to be food poisoning.
I THINK (stress the word think) that is was done to get Flair off of TV, while an angle played out between him and Eric Bischoff (or someone else).I'm not 100% sure on that one,but I definitely do remember the episode of Nitro in question. |

Mikey:
The one in 2000 was a different one. That (the 2000 incident) was a real health scare turned into an angle - a variation of the "worked shoot",if you will. In 2000,Flair had some kind of inner ear deal that caused him to collapse before a match, but that was at a Thunder, not a Nitro. Although it wasn't a major thing,he did have to take some time away, and Russo decided to turn it into an angle for TV to explain things; especially since Jarrett was in the middle of a feud with Flair at the time. Hope that helped |
