Very nice. Some just add a few ships or systems, others change the whole world around completly. For starters I would download "Freeworlds" mod. It changes the whole world into Star Wars.

It's almost like a whole new game for each mod.

Also, A lot of people are still playing it online so it's a cheap way to go for a multiplayer game.
