Who's best overall

I'd divide it into categories:

Wrestling: Austin

Mainstream appeal: The Rock

Mic work: The Rock

Biggest fan favorite: Austin

Who's got more bling bling: The Rock

Better worker: I'd give it to The Rock. He's willing to do the job, work with anyone, while Austin vetos and no-shows

Diversity: The Rock has changed and kept his character fresher than Austin. Austin also sucks as a heel

Win/loss record: Austin won 3 Wrestlemania main events. The Rock doesn't even come close

Better singer: The Rock. Austin should take lessons from George Straight

Better guitar player: The Rock. He had 2 Concerts. Austin sang for Vince.

Hotter wife: Hmm tough one. I like Debra's puppies

Hollywood success: Hmmm, The Rock. Austin looks like fucking Goldberg on the Longest Mile poster. Extra also capped his pic with Goldberg's name at the Spike TV Awards or something

Best beer drinker: Austin duh. I remember The Rock taking a baby sip at Backlash 2000 and spitting it out

Best feuds: Tough one. Austin also worked in WCW, and ECW. I'd say The Rock because I'm biased and he always makes the other guy look good (ie Brock Lesnar)

Merchandise: Austin. I'd rather wear an Austin 3:16 shirt in public than a Layin The Smackethdown shirt. But thats just me

Catchphrases: Can of whoop ass is still heard everywhere. Layin' the smackdown too, but I think Dr. Dre said it first. Austin was never really about the catchphrases, so I'll give it to Rocky

The Rock's ability to switch from face to heel (vice versa) was amazing and he sold/oversold everything he did.

Although Austin's attitude made him what he is, I remember watching Punk'd and he's the same when he's out of the ring, which was hilarious.

These are fairly silly categories, Naitch.

Maybe overall all time, Steve Austin is better. But I'd much rather see The Rock come back now.

Austin. Was there ever a better bad ass heel than Austin? Hell no.

Face or heel he was great. As a face he got the biggest pops one could garner, and as a heel...well he always did truly act heelish no matter when.
But seriously, watch him in 1996 and early 97...none of the rocks characters can compete with that. Austin as a heel in 2001 didnt work as they made him a funny man, hugging vince and kurt..gimme a break, that isnt "stone cold".

Austin has the bigger name when it comes to pro wrestling, and he's been in better feuds with better wrestlers.

He's just the man.

In terms of wrestling ability, relatability, mass popularity, and what counts the most, ability to get seats filled with asses...Austin hands down was bigger in pro wrestling then anyone (yes I would say at their peek, bigger then Hogan).

However for my money I would rather watch Rocky. Just always liked him. Even when his move set was down to 5 moves in every single match around 99-01...he still was exciting. I like The Rock and admire how much he has changed his character while always keeping that "Great One" attitude (minus his time as Blue Chipper...hated that shit).
