Movies that you thought would suck...

but ended up liking.

Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle. When I first saw the preview, I thought this would be the stupidest movie ever. Then I visited my brother and he was watching it. I never laughed so hard in a long time when I watched this.

Neal Patrick Harris rules, BTW.

I'm a marvel comic fan, and I thought they'd end up butchering it, but it didn't turn out to be too bad.

The Shawshank Redemption.

Something always bothers me when people say "oh, you gotta see this film". Usually it has the opposite effect since my expectations are so high, but you already know the rest of this story....

March of the Penguins

Like a giant documentary, but I never knew I liked documentaries before I saw this.

Collateral

Mixed reactions and people saying the ending was premature and didn't make sense. Obviously they were in the wrong screening room.

The only reason why I watched it is it was free, and I wanted to properly trash the movie. Everything else Michael Bay has touched has been utter shit, but I was impressed with The Island.

Complaint after Complaint was all I heard after "The Island" came out so I never really cared to rent it and check it out. I picked it up for xmas and thought it was actually pretty good. I mean it wasnt the greatest movie ive seen but it was definently better than I was expecting.

To number one "Thought it would suck" movie for me was....Stealth....I really expected it to suck badly but when I saw it I fell in love with it. Sure the movie makes no sense whats so ever and sure it was very far fetched...but I really enjoyed the movie. Probably the biggest turn around ever for me.

Hey now, The Rock is one of the best action movies of the 90s, if not the best. The rest of his stuff was bah.

I enjoyed The Island as well.
Terminator 3- I was afraid it was gonna blow ass, trailer didn't do it justice. But I ended up liking it a lot. No where near as good as 1 or 2, but certainly an entertaining summer action flick.

That's funny, it's like the other way around for me. The original seemed poorly put together and I would've never watched Vanilla Sky if I'd seen Abre Los Ojos first.

Event Horizon (I think thats the name)

Has Samuel L Jackson and Sam Neil in it and when I read the bio on T.V. the other night (sky TV) it looked like your regular crappy space horror (and it was to a degree) but I was actualy pretty imressed in the end as I found myself wanting to watch it right the way through, very surprising.

The Rock is another, The trailers I saw looked ass and then it was actualy pretty good.

And Welcome too the Jungle, Once again not too hyped for the trailers but highly underrated IMO.

Unless that was one of those Jackson/Fishbourne look-alike jokes that Ricky Gervais does.

i can understand your logic if you are a 13 year old who has never seen a naked woman, and does not have access to a more straight forward form of pornography.
Simma down now, buddy. I never said it was watchable. Stealth may be the worst movie of last year. There's nothing wrong with enjoying the sight of a pretty girl in a bikini.

We watched The Island on a flight home from Europe, and I thought it was pretty bad. In terms of entertainment value, it had some of that. But there were too many holes in the premise and some of the action scenes were dragged out way too long.

I have to say... yeah Stealth was a really good movie. They sold it horribly. But putting Oscar Winner Jamie Fox in a shallow supporting role and killing him off quickly and without consequence, that's just awesome. And I won't get into the final third of that film... but if you can suspend your disbelief and remember that action movies aren't meant to be deep, nor are they supposed to be horrible like Michael Bay horseshit... then you should be able to enjoy Stealth.

I Robot suprised me. Didn't exactly love it but it didn't suck as bad as I thought it would.

Longest Yard wasn't too terrible. Actually pretty enjoyable, especially the final game.

Oh man I love Collateral. Everytime it's on HBO I can't pull myself away from it. So many great lines.

I thought Doom was gonna suck...and it did. But I was entertained nonetheless.
