That... was fucked up.... (spoilers bound to occur)
As I mentioned in the Chat, that was the most fucked up Royal Rumble ever.

It's like they decided to trip on LSD then write the PPV.




Rey winning after no credible buildup. Cena on a space ship. Taker coming out to implode the ring at the end. Shane eliminating HBK. Helms winning the CW title despite currently being on RAW. JBL jobbing in five seconds (which means he's in for another year long reign; remember RR 2004, when he was the first eliminated?).

So what the hell do you think they have planned for the Road to Wrestlemania? Discuss possible future angles here.

It sounds like RR sucked.

Although I'm glad with the outcome of Mysterio winning. Face it, Mysterio can do it all in the ring. He is a major star on SmackDown in a time of no stars. I'm sure WWE will change it before Mania though, and make Orton the #1 contender......

Sounded like a waste of $40.00 and time as well. Seriously, I've ordered Wrestlemania's since 2000. I might not order this year, if the current WWE product doesn't improve.

What irked me about the Rumble match was that two of the final three, Orton and Rey, had clean, weak losses on the SmackDOWN before. Orton taps to Benoit but is second to last to be eliminated. Okay... that's a little odd, but not a huge problem. But Rey was made to just look pathetic against Henry, but suddenly he goes the distance and wins the Rumble? Just seems odd.

He deserves it, but they better build him up big time over the next few months. Even if they take the title shot away from him.

I think the WWE decide to have Rey win so they can have the "No one believed in me. I didn't even belive in me. The only person who believed in me was Eddie." and He'll say 'believe' 12 more times in each promo.

I mean it's a true underdog story that the WWE is trying to do. It's actually pretty cool on paper. Whether or not it's booked well, I don't know. I just hope they don't throw Eddie's name around too much for this.

I don't mind no credible build up to win a Rumble. IMO the ones with the build up are too predictable (see 2000 Rumble).

What I do find funny is thinking back to the 96 RR where Vader hopped in the ring after being eliminated and tossed Michaels out, which didn't count. Yet the Shane O' Mac interference counts as a valid elimination. My girfriend asked the question of "He wasn't in the match so it doesn't count right?", I said it shouldn't, but I guess it counts when they need it to.

I think that was the point of Mysterio's loss to Henry on Smackdown - to make it seem like he couldn't win the Royal Rumble.

Let's think about it. Was anybody "built" to win the Rumble this year? Last year it was Batista, the year before it was Benoit, the year before that it was Lesnar. This year there wasn't anyone: the biggest hint we ever got was Rey's dedication of his Rumble match to Eddie Guerrero. So it makes sense that he won.

I don't see how they could take Mysterio out of the WrestleMania title match after tonight. Even if it is just a storyline, an angle to remove Rey from his well-earned and rightful spot in the main event of WM 22 would be unfair and atrocious considering what he's gone through in the past few months. After the countless five star matches he's given to the wrestling industry in his career, the fact that he's perservered in an industry where anyone below 6 foot doesn't make it past HEAT, Mysterio deserves that spot more than anyone.

I could see Rey/Angle/Orton at Mania, or even Rey/UT, although that would be a far subpar match to the triple threat.

Whatever. If this Rumble was any indication of how "the road" is going to be, then WrestleMania 22 is going to suck balls.

My 2 Cents on that....

Rey winning, well from what i've heard he's not going to main event mania so I fully expect him to lose his number 1 contendership at NWO. Rey did deserve a main title push IMO he's worked his ass off in the biz is a very solid performer, shame.

They have totally killed off Edge now, totally! The reason Cena was getting most of those boo's was because of the opposition he was facing, if he's going to go against one of the guys who the smarks love (Angle) he's going to get boo'd, Edge was a really good heel champ, dammit he should of kept that thing longer, Roll on HHH/Cena at Mania

All in all, although fucked up, the one thing that I can say was good was the fact it was fucked up, it wasn't as predictable as previous years, because they didn't ram one guy down out mouths for the past month I couldn't say for sure who would win, even at the final 4 stage I still wasn't sure and I thought that was a positive

I don't see them doing anything with Rey's spot at Mania, because you have him getting huge pops now because he won and the smarks fall in love with the underdog storyline (hell, I thought I had a full blown orgasm when he won). I'm actually thinking that maybe they will let him main event vs. Angle.

And Orton and HHH could do interpromotional at No Way Out.

But there's another possibility, too. That is that they ship him to RAW, and then you have a major issue, because then you would have to make Cena lose the title yet AGAIN, more or less to Triple H (because it would make it heel vs. face, and I'm still against making Cena heel while he has the belt, that would make things TOO awkward), then set up Rey/HHH, and still have Orton to use for the main event on SmackDown side. I don't know if this was even considered that they could send Rey to Raw, but that could be happening.

Triple H, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio & Rob Van Dam as the Final Four was so damn stupid. I'm sorry, but it just reeked of predictability. Not "I saw it coming" predictability, but "I should have seen it coming, but part of the reason I didn't was because I hope they wouldn't do that" predictability.

I have no problem with Mysterio winning, but the way they hid behind Eddie was ridiculous. Chavo fucking Guerrero (an actual relative of Eddie) and Chris fucking Benoit were in the match and treated like shit. Psicosis & Super Crazy were good friends of Eddie, too, from what I hear, yet they get no mention because Rey is Eddie's boy. It's cheap and stupid. They want Eddie to win the Rumble, they should have let Chavo win, go to SmackDown!, lost to Orton at No Way Out when a returning "Cowboy" Bob fucks Chavo over. Rand then RKOs Bob on SmackDown! to get some heat, and then we have Kurt vs. Orton at WrestleMania, and Chavo for the US Division.

Triple H didn't need to make the Final Four; I like the guy and think he's a Hell of a performer, but that was just selfish. You're right. Val Venis, Chavo, or Kane would have all been the best choices to win.

I only got to see the first 10 mins of this poorly booked rumble because we get the first 10 free on box office, and I noticed a lot of empty seats there. On a semi-related note its preety crap that they only mention Benoit and Mysterio as good friends of Eddie only because they are upper-midcarders and dont mention that Eddie was close with Psicosis and Super Crazy because they are lower on the card.

Whats even worse is they push down our throats of how close Bats was to Eddie even though they only knew each other for a couple of years (I know it was a part of a storyline but still this is disrespecting a mans death)

Think about the bigger picture here.

Why do most people order the Rumble? Because of the Rumble itself not the title matches, well at least that's my feeling on it and that's why I paid for it last night.

Why waste a 5 star main event that won't draw in more ratings? Save it for NWO for Taker/Angle which more people would be interested in seeing, this whole thing was only thrown together at the last minute anyway, if Dave didn't get injured this whole thing would be turned on it's head, basically it was a filler because they knew they could use it there.

As soon as I saw that the Royal Rumble would not be the last match on the card I just shook my head in disbelief.

I also love the fact that besides the beginning and ending of the Rumble that Rey Mysterio was virtually invisible. Hell, the WWE could have just asked him to work the first few minutes with Triple H, casually slip out of the ring, and then come back in for the ending and no one would have noticed.

And who the hell decided to put Mark Henry in the MAIN EVENT?!

I just wonder why they'd make him win and not do anything with it...I mean it's one thing if they were pushing a guy and realized they were making a mistake or something, but to make a guy win and it's obvious that they're going to take away his shot, is stupid.
