My complete disdain for anything Next Generation

Okay, so I wasn't sure whether I should even post this or not, but after reading ANOTHER snide and snotty comment from another Next Generation cast member, I had to vent. Just for the record, this is my obligatory Star Trek complaining mode.

Okay, I love Star Trek(the Original Series). Always have, and always will until the day I croak. I love(d) Enterprise for the four glorious years it was on. A truly underrated program that was treated like pure shit by Paramount, UPN and Brannon Braga/Rick Berman(translation, those guys who hate everything about the Original Series). Enterprise truly captured the magic and adventure of the Original Series like TNG, DS9 and Voyager could only dream to do.

Over the course of so many years, I have come to completely despise and hate every member of that TNG crew(except for Stewart, I can't hate him) and cast. They hold their show in such high-esteem like it's God's fucking gift to Star Trek. Put it on a pedastal like it's the fucking Ark Of The Covenant.

The cast of TNG are nothing but arrogant, self important, fucktwit, assholes(again, save for Stewart).

Not to mention how Paramount, Braga/Berman completely screwed Enterprise of any chance of having a good send-off, then act upset in interviews that it never got one. That was supposed to be Enterprise's fucking good-bye, not TNG's. It had a goodbye. Granted, that piece of shit show shouldn't have even lasted as long as it did, but whatever. Instead of giving them a great final episode, they call that fat-ass Frakes who looks like he just got done eating a starship in along with that ugly, untalented slut, Sirtis, to just completely shit all over what Enterprise had done for four years. Instead of it being called "Star Trek: Enterprise", you could have easily changed it to "Star Trek: The Next Generation", and I couldn't have even told the difference.

And don't even get me started on Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

So, in closing, fuck The Next Generation. Fuck Voyager. Fuck Deep Space Nine, and fuck Paramount. There.

I'm sorry, but after reading a snotty LeVar Burton comment, I just snapped into my "TNG must die" mode. But if anyone here actually knows what the hell I'm bitching and complaining about, discuss.

lol Star Trek. Wasn't TNG like the most successful or something after the original? Must have been doing something right. Dunno I'm not a Trekkie. Enjoy some of the movies though.

But creators and/or execs fuck(ed) with some of my favorite shows too. You're not alone.

TNG is the most milked series out of them all, the only reason I have begun to hate it is because its so over exposed.

The thing that pisses me off about the TNG movies was they didn't have Q.

Q was the man.

While I respect Roddenberry on an intellectual level, I find almost all of his shows to be crap. The man knew his shit in terms of actual science, but ToS is pure cheese, TNG is like LotR, DS9's only success came from nicking Bab 5, and Enterprise was so shitty it had to rely on Vulcan boobies.

I liked the movies with the original cast (Don't ask me why I like them and not ToS), and sorta liked Voyager. Some of the actors in the various series' have been decent too.

Q was interesting (moreso than the rest of the series put together), but really, saying TNG wasn't all that good isn't saying much.

Q are basically hyperevolved beings. They touched on this in at least TNG and Voyager, I don't know about other ones. Think Ancients (Stargate), only as we don't really know what the limits are to either, it's difficult to really judge how apt the comparison is.

On the other hand, anyone with that much power is going to look like a fucking God regardless.

Wasn't The Doctor a hologram? I've only seen like 2 episodes of Voyager.

Yeah, he was the EMH, designed for when the doctor from a ship was indisposed. Very cool character, in a sort of "I want to hit this guy in the face so much it's awesome!" Sorta way.

A little off subject but this reminded me of a movie I think you and all TOS fans would like, Free Enterprise. It's basically a Romantic comedy movie made by Sci-Fi lovers/fan for Sci-Fi lovers/fans. The movie is filled with references dealing with Sci-Fi. Also it stars William Shatner. I really think you'll enjoy it if you are such a big TOS fan. Let me know if you check it out, be interested to see what you think of it.

Yea I loved The Doctor, Although I spent most of my time while watching Voyager going between wanting to stab Neelix with a sharp object and drooling over Robert Duncan McNeill (give me a break I was teenage girl).

Enterprise, I started watching for Captain Quantum *cough* I mean Captain Archer, and then Porthos. By the end I had grown found of Hoshi, decided that Archer needed an Al, grown to hate Vulcans.

Deep Sleep Nine never did grow on me, although I did enjoy bits and pieces of it's final season.

TNG, sigh, Troi, Riker, Picard (I have grown to appricate Patrick Stewart as I've aged) and Crusher (only because she played of Picard well) are the only ones I could stand. *attempts to stab Brent Spiner with a pen*

TOS, I have issues with Willian Shatner, I can't stand the guy, I use to have a reason, but I'm beyond remembering it. This also lead to me not being able to sit though any of the TOS movies, which leads to Star Trek: First Contact being my favourite of the Trek movies.

Q Ruled.

The Doctor was best in the first few episodes when he a bit of a dick to everyone. In the last few seasons when every other episode seemed to be about the Doctor becoming more "real" , seemed like a bit of a Data retread.

Least you wanted to stab him with something snarp...I wanted to stab him with a bowling ball.

Then we got 7 of 9, and I wondered what the fuck my problem with Neelix was. He suddenly seemed so...Tolerable. Robert Duncan McNeil...He was Paris, no? I loved the character, wasn't too fond of his looks though.

Such a dumb show. Archer was a shite captain, and there were maybe four people on hat show that didn't make me want to suicide bomb Paramount.

Shatner was shit. The amazing thing was how many good actors were on that show. The only thin gthat makes it at all watchable is that the support characters could act better than Shatner.

Robert Picardo was a real good actor that played a real interesting character. Too bad the show itself was so bland.

There are these clicker things that are like crabs in Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower' series, except they eat people, I would like to feed Neelix to them.

7 of 9 annoyed me simply because she took screen time off The Doctor and then towards the end all that 7/Chakotay crap, even one knows it should have been Janeway/Chakotay

Meanwhile I won't tell you about the 6 month period where I had a crush on Riker.

You are right Archer was a crap captain, but T'Pol was like the worst First Officer in the history of anything. *insert Vulcan hate here*. I kinda liked Reed & Mayweather, but it's sad that I can say the dog was my favorite character.

Bab 5 Stargate Stargate dispite the change in cast (I do miss Jack, but I love Ben Browder enough to not mind too much) remains one of my favorite shows on TV.

7 of 9 annoyed me mostly because the only reason she was there was because she had teh b00b13z! The character had so little merit, and while the concept of reforming a Borg could have been an interesting one, they took the bland approach (I mean, the only thing not 2-D about her was her rack...Total cardboard cutout.

Riker, at least, had some redeeming visual qualities (though he looked more like he should be a swashbuckler than a stick-up-the-ass "Number One."), over Paris. Paris was a better character though.

Probably one of the better actors, too.

I liked Tucker (Early on)...Reed was the British guy, right? I kinda zoned out on the characters and plots. I liked the Brit, anyway. T'Pol was pretty bad too, and that actress. Fucking Hell, she sucked in Stargate too.

While I miss O'Neill, Mitchell is awesome. HE and Vala both bring something new and fun to SG-1. SG-1's probably not as good, but the fact that they've kept it going strong for 9 seasons is amazing.

I'm surprised. They did all the other obligatory Star Trek stuff on Enterprise: Inluding some really cheesey Time Travel eps. I wonder if maybe they just couldn't get the actor to play him again (I think, while all Q are Q, that he's the only one people would buy). I would have watched eps just for that.

That's why the Doctor was better.

The Doctor rarely had episode that were all about him, but rather, he was a subplot that continued throughout the series. He did have eps specifically about him (Like when his program begins to degrade, or he has that meltdown when he chooses to save his friend over another officer), most of the time, it was a running sort of deal which didn't take away, but blended with.

Data usually sapped up time. Same with 7. Not only that, but they overused the Borg anyway, and she ended up ruining the Borg as well.

They did touch on it briefly in TNG with Hugh, but I reckon what happened on Voyager was the following

*Braga walks with Jeri Ryan on his arm*

"Rick! Rick! Look what I'm banging"
"Dude you so rock. Hey lets put her on the show, the teenage boys will be all "
"OMG, you genius, I know just the plot line, we'll get rid of the Kes chick and Jeri can come in a borg. Cause you know the borg as cool right, except she's not part of the borg anymore, we can do all these reformed storylines, making human again Data_style"
"Right on, the fans will love it!"

*They get to work*

Okay so maybe it didn't really go like that, and somehow I feel dumber for having typed it.

Paris was indeed the better character, till he married Torres, but I won't go there. Riker should have more like swashbuckler, I mean how many times did they mention Riker's woman, yet Picard always seemed to be the one to get the girl, go figure.

Oh without a doubt, I mean in the first couple of eps he's carrying on about how people never turn him off, and so and then you see him doing stuff like singing Opera and just growing slowly in the background, not in your face every two seconds. I'm sure the borg will recover, if for no other reason than to give Data & 7 issues to annoy us with. *shudders at the thought of those two in the same Trek movie*

The epsiode with Hugh Borg was one of the only eps I saw when the series was still new. My father cracked up at the fact they ripped off BattleStar for that one.

With Hugh, it was different. The Borg were an infrequent enemy, and they dominated entire fleets of ships generally. In TNG, they were dangerous. In Voyager, they were shoved down our throats. And worse, one ship had to outwit, defeat, or survive them. ONE SHIP. Versus the Collective.

Not to mention, Hugh made a little more sense. Jeri Ryan was brought in solely because they thought KEss was played out. That's a bad reason to introduce a new character. Ever.

That and I bet they wanted something the geeks were sure to jerk off over. Combine machine and large breasts, and you get a "winning" combination.

I never got that, either. Except that they probably felt that they had to carry on with the Shatner tradition of the Captain always getting the "ladies."

Riker always was portrayed with a Roguish past, which made me wonder why they always had him act like he had a very large stick up his ass. PLayed trombone well, at least (I played it for 12 years).

Shanks and Judge especially have this great sort of chemistry. Either one of them can make Browder look cool by association. Not that he needs it, but they are really the kind of make-or-break personas of Stargate.

I also dig that three of the cast members have writter andor directed episodes that didn't suck. Normally, when that happens, the eps are crap. But especially Judge's debut, I forget the name, but the one where Teal'c dreams he's a fireman giving a kidney to Bra'tak...Oone of my favorites.

It would have been interesting to see him play off Archer. I love how he riled each differently though. I guess Omnipotence comes with the knowledge of which buttons to push on "inferior" life forms.

a movie with Q would be interesting. I don't know what they could do with it though.

Well, technically, Data's dead.

It's a shame. I like Spiner, but they overdid his character. And even in death, it looks like he'll be around.

And since the talk was of the next movie featuring the Voyager crew (After NEmesis and Enterprise both kinda bombing, I doubt it'll come, but) the odds of B4 being involved with 7 went up pretty significantly. Let's just throw in a few Vulcans to complain about how illogical it is to aspire to be human...
