He has? After Christian and after his tag team with Snitsky I believe he basically fell off the face of WWE TV.

Tomko was busting up nobodies on Heat for a few months, and Rene Dupree was saying something about wanting to form a tag team with him, but I guess that whole idea got tossed in the bin with "who was driving the Hummer?".

It's hard for them not to expect something big after a few years when you see guys coming in and getting huge pushes immediately.

It's ridiculous. Booker T, Triple H, Benoit, Jericho, Taker, Kane, Show, Batista (though it's not really realized), JBL, and even Rey Mysterio put years into the business before they made it to the top. I have to agree. People get signed and pushed to the moon, they get TV time and some thought put into them, and that sets a precedent.

Now I'm not gonna pull any of that "paying your dues" crap, because I really don't buy it. But when you see other newbies running up the ladder, you have to get pissed that you're not as well. Especially when they push so many green and dangerous "superstars."

...You had a point with some of those guys, but Big Show won the WCW World Heavyweight Title in his first professional wrestling match ever. Batista has only been in the business 2 years longer then Tomko.

Tyson Tomko got into pro wrestling in 1999. He wrestled on the Florida Indie circut before getting signed to a development deal and sent to OVW in 2002. He was then brought up on RAW in 2003. That's three years on the indie scene and 3 years on RAW, and what does he have to show for it? Nothing. He was Christian/Trish Stratus' bitch for a while. That's his career highlight. Now Tomko is a good talent. You wouldn't know it but he is above average on the mic, he is one of the better big men I have ever seen. He has talent and skill and above all he has a potential for a great future. And hell yeah, I would be pissed too to be told that they were going to push me in a tag team with someone who then gets thrown in a random bullshit other team just because the talentless Rhodes needs someone to tag with, and oh yeah he happens to be one of the writer's son. Tomko was supposed to continue with the Problem Solver, WWE droped the ball, WWE then did nothing with him, again dropping the ball, then he was supposed to be in a tag team with Snitsky (we all agree that could have helped the division more then seeing Goldust and Snitsky together) and once again WWE drops the ball.

He wants to walk? I say good for him. He wasn't earning a shit load. According to the posted 2005 Wrestler Salaries (if you believe those are correct) he earned $127,000. That's not a whole lot. He could go on the indie scene, build up a rep, or maybe just show up in TNA, work only 3 nights a month, and then go make use of his college degree in a real job.

Kendrick asked for his release because he wanted to go on tour in Japan...he has said that his time over there was the best part of his career. He then came back and had a nice stay in RoH before being offered another contract by WWE...he earned more money in Japan, had a better time, and while it was only a temporary thing, bettered his career for it. Instead of being Spanky he is now known as Brian Kendrick and is in a very interesting Tag Team with Paul London...seems to have worked out better for him in the long run. Again, bad example.

WWE.com: What kind of opportunity would you need in WWE to show that you can be a bigger asset?
Tomko: I don’t think it was anything I was doing. The bottom line is that people sit by sometimes — and I’ve seen it happen to a handful of guys — where they just sit around and don’t do anything about their career. But I know I can be a top-caliber athlete for this company. I just think that rather than sit around and wait for the opportunity, I’m going to take it. Instead of waiting around for a handout, I’m going to go make my opportunity. Then, I’m going to come back and there’s going to be no question as to my ability at that point.
WWE.com: Do you have any plans finalized for wrestling with a particular promotion in Japan?
Tomko: There’s nothing completely finalized. I have been in talks as recently as this morning, and there had been e-mail communication. So, I can’t go on record as of this point, but I’m definitely — with 100 percent certainty — going to be appearing in Japan within the next couple of months.
WWE.com: Looking back, how do you feel about your time in WWE?
Tomko: Very positive. I think I’ve gone out on a good note and everything I’ve done here had been a testament to my abilities. I think that if I went any further without doing what I’m doing, then it could have jeopardized my stature, if you will. So, I’m going to take a step backward and go five steps forward.
WWE.com: So, you feel you’re leaving WWE on good terms where you might return in the future?
Tomko: Absolutely. I shook hands with Vince McMahon yesterday afternoon as I was leaving, and I believe the exact saying was: “The door is wide open.”
WWE.com: So it doesn’t sound like there are any hard feelings.
Tomko: None whatsoever. The company as a whole was fantastic to me. I’m not bitter in any way. This is just something that I wanted to do, and I’m just fortunate that there was a lull in what I was doing where I was able to go to Japan while not taking away from what WWE was doing with me. I came from being a bodyguard for a rock band, so I never got the opportunity to go work in areas like Japan or the independents or anything like that. And I want to experience that. So, while there was an opportunity, I decided to do this thing. I’ll come back, and when I come back I’ll be bigger than ever.
WWE.com: What were your favorite moments during your time in WWE?
Tomko: I have a few favorites. I had an opportunity to wrestle with Chris Benoit a few times. I also wrestled with Hulk Hogan in a six-man tag-team match with Christian and Chris Jericho as my partners and John Cena, HBK and Hulk Hogan as my opponents. That’s a match that I was really fortunate to be a part of. Also, I got the opportunity to face Ric Flair. Those are all points in my career where I would have never thought those opportunities would present themselves, and they did. I’m very fortunate and grateful for that.
WWE.com: There are going to be a lot of WWE Superstars who will read this on WWE.com today. Do you have any message for anyone you didn’t get a chance to speak to one-on-one before your departure?
Tomko: I just want to say to everybody I had an opportunity to work with in WWE, if I didn’t personally thank them, I’d like to thank them now. In times to come, we will definitely have a future meeting — and hopefully I’ll be on the good end of it. Because when and if I do come back to this company, any Superstar in my way, I’m going to take him out.

No, that's the problem. You're trying to "technically" me around here and play the lawyer. Realistically, a lot of casuals that had heard of him before (due to his work in 2003, primarily) probably DON'T realize he's back. BUT, "technically", he's been on SmackDown! a time or two.

That interview on WWE.com sheds an entirely new light on this. Tomko's going to go over to Japan and improve until the WWE are forced to take note of his abilities and use him in a more prominent role. You can't fault the guy for being ambitious.

I like Tomko, he is above average in the ring, and he's a fine talker. The guy was a seven-time OVW Southern Tag Team Champion, so he must have done something to impress Jim Cornette. Tomko's something like 29 or 30 now, so he's still got a future ahead of him. It's good to see him want to use his early years to improve and come back with a lot more going for him.
