Mulit-person champions...
They were saying on Monday that the Spirit Squad are the first tag champions to share it between three or more people. For some reason I remember there being a stable in some organization that had a title that could be interchanged between them.
So my question is if this is true or if there WAS another time when something like this happened? And what about two people holding the same singles title, not including substitutes? ![]() |

since Jericho is/was my fav wrestler of all time... I remembered that he and Chyna were IC champ (double pin) together before Jericho and Chyna wanted to split apart and be a seperate champion, Jericho wins it for himself.
it's right here in the IC history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWE_Int...l_Championship |

This is an easy one.
Demolition and Freebirds did it. Last edited by Loose Cannon; 04-12-2006 at 05:49 PM. |

The Triad (DDP, Bam Bam Bigelow and Kanyon) in WCW did it with the tag titles. I think the nWo did it too.

don't think nWo ever did it. Jersey Triad was awesome though.
WCW actually had a lot of 3 man teams back in the day that they created the Six-Man Belts. |

I'm almost positive the NWO did actually do it at one point. Because in a post before, I mentioned hoping the SS did it, and at the time I could only recall the NWO doing it.

Syxx did sub for Nash for one match when they lost the Tag Titles to the Steiners. But if you count that, you got to count Regal subbing for Pillman when the Blondes lost the tag titles.

I only remember the Jericho/Chyna one. Didn't LOD have 3 members at one point? Did they share the title?
Just a thought, have any other factions ever shared the title (ie DX, NOD, Hart Foundation...)? |

Sting and Giant were tag champs, but were in opposing nWo factions. Sting and Giant wrestled each other, and the winner got to keep the belts. Sting won and made Kevin Nash his tag partner. A few shows later, I think Luger teamed with Sting to defend the belts. Sting said in his video that the Wolfpac were a team, and that that any two members could defend the titles.
To bad they didn't keep the tag titles for too long. I absolutely loved the Wolfpac. |

The Giant and Scott Hall were the champs, but it was Giant & Scott Steiner who dropped the belts to Rick Steiner and Buff Bagwell. Then Buff turned on Rick and Rick picked some jobber to be his new partner

Ahh the Triad, that made for awesome stuff, when they'd switch partners in the middle of a match

Wouldn't Kane and Undertaker count as a multi-person champion? They did win the title at Breakdown, even though the title was almost immediately vacanted afterwards.

I know Demolition had 3 members at one time, they are a good possibility, but I can't remember if all 3 defended the belts or not

the NWO did do it. when Hall & Nash were tag champs, they were allowed to use Savage and Syxx to sub in at the start of the match (sometimes during). it was, for the most part, a 4 man tag team.... and the offical start of the wolfpac.

I'm imagining there was at least ONE instance in WCW of one of the guys "refusing to job/using political stroke" in a tag match or be involved in the loss. As mentioned, there were QUITE a few instances of replaced partners. Stevie Ray defended the TV title for Booker T after he was injured (almost if not directly) after the "WCW's/The Original" Best of 7 Series with Booker and Benoit. There's several instances in wrestling history of managers teaming with their clients to defend belts in handicapped matches. Most notably, Fuji teaming with the Powers of Pain in their WrestleMania V loss to Demolition. |
