I really don't care about the other portions of the game, although I will probably get sucked into it. I just can't wait until I unlock the editor and just fuck around.

Why should it be? PC is still one of the most accessable platforms out there, and it needs it's own games.

Although I wouldn't be suprised to see a port later on down the line.

Yesterday GameSpy had a breakfast chat with Will Wright who had some interesting things to say. Below are a few parts of the article, click here to view the whole thing.

As E3 2006 gets underway, here is what Will Wright has to say for himself.

WW: We're saying that Spore is coming out in 2007. The message that we are getting from [Electronic Arts] corporate is "Don't screw it up," which is great. What they mean is, "Lets get it right." This will be the game's last E3.

WW: Probably just after that, though we are not being precise. What we are saying is just outside the fiscal year, which is March.

WW: Well, actually we are going to go on all platforms, but we will come out on PC first. We will even come out on cell phones and stuff. One of the things in the game is that as you go around and encounter things… creatures and plants, or whatever, you make trading cards of each thing. That is the metaphor for the database -- trading cards. So you can collect your cards. You can print them out. You can now play your own card game. That might be like the cell phone part. That stuff is so light. It's more about collectability as opposed to interaction. Every creature in the PC game is three or four megabytes. But the cards, that is the database that the player is building.

...Personally, I'm glad for it. I hate it when a game is PC only, since I hate PC gaming. Just seems like too much red tape to me to play a game on PC, and nine times out of ten, the PC gets something really killer like this.

With the new technology of the next-gen consoles, maybe console gamers will get a FULL version, and not a watered down version, like in the case of The Sims.

Yeah, there was nothing in the demos I saw that couldn't be done on a Wii,PS3 or Xbox360.
I can't stand PC only games either, I had the sims and B&W for the PC and it was too much hassle. "You must have this processor and these megabytes to run this game"

Its easily doable to get the FULL version on consoles but I think companys think consoles gamers only like things with missions and stories. I was very annoyed when I bought Sims 2 for Ps2 and it wasn't the same as the PC one. Hope Spore is exactly like the PC version.

...and I wouldn't mind if console gamers could buy and use expansion packs to.
Pretty sure Dynasty Warriors on the Ps2 showed you can have expantion packs.

Same here but only if the console versions are exactly like the PC version. Nothing taken away like they did with the Sims. They don't really have an excuse since the next generation Consoles (Ps3,Wii,Xbox360) are probably capable of handling the game.
